I officially retract all comments I posted on the Roar about Cleary in his first 2 years of footy. These comments from memory included such gems as – he is just a solid first grader, nothing more…. not sure what all the fuss is about… a poor man’s Peter Wallace etc!
That last 20 from Cleary was something else! Almost unbelievable, like a kid’s make-believe grand final scenario coming true. In one of my scenarios, Elle McPherson ran onto the field in a bikini and hugged me after kicking a mighty 40-meter 1-pointer on the bell! This is what Cleary is living today, in real life!

Paps made a good little half-break down the right about 5 minutes before the injury and I thought jeez it’s good to have him back…. just so disappointing! I hope he recovers full use of his ankle and retires. There is more to life than footy.

I really like Broad…. he is the type of player Australia will love 5 years after retirement. Plays hard, has a bit of bottle and he can back it up with talent. He can be an A hole but has insight. I will miss him when his decides his body has had it. I assume he is just waiting for Warner to retire so he can announce his 1 hour later…. one last little victory!

Just watched the post-match presser… Stokes absolutely embarrasses himself.
As for the last 20 minutes of the game, Captain Pat is an absolute killer. Don’t be fooled by his charm and good looks. The bouncer barrage at the end was a little bit of payback and a little bit of phycological warfare. He knew he had runs to play with and decided to give the English tailenders something back! The next game is a short turnaround and Anderson is icing 6 different parts of his body… I think Pat knew exactly what he was doing.

Granville isn’t a lock… he certainly isn’t there best option. But I was thinking yesterday why he Payton keeps picking him somewhere. I think it’s because he is so wholehearted that he embarrasses the other forwards into performing.

Holmes Hammer Coates and Nania all deserve more than 6.5. All were excellent.
Coates especially surprised me. No silly mistakes, took some really tough runs and found his front and scored an excellent try,
Nania hit hard and low all game… probably the best defensive game I have seen him play.
Holmes and Hammer were just all round fantastic, would give them both at least 8! Don’t care what the stats say, they played their parts terrifically!

They should just stop interviewing players. Really what’s the point. It’s usually a just an attempted cliche or absolute rubbish. I know there are exceptions but on balance just remove the microphone!
