Thankyou for your criticism, and ideas Mister Football, My thoughts on the evolution and replacement of strategies is not that a particular gameplay ever disappears however certain elements of strategy is deemed outdated, one key element that has been dominant across gameplays throughout the past two decades, that I believe will continue to shape the core of AFL strategies is the running Half back that can break lines and pin point forwards and creating an attacking culture from half back. examples of this over the past decades have been players like Andrew Mcleod, was placed on half back on both the 97, 98 grandfinals and was awarded best on for both games. I think this will be a style of play that will continue to grow in the future. whilst I think a strategy that relies too heavily on having a dominant midfield that is the heavily invested “engine room” of the team will be superceded by a more balanced and attacking full ground list.

Yeah it is a fair comment. Your right in saying that Adelaide have had promising starts to the year over previous years and have then dropped away. However not since 2002 have Adelaide won the first three games of the season. And certainly not for the last 7 years has Adelaide had such a wealth of players that play a hard nut mentality of the game. It is the rising up of prominent players such as Brodie smith, jaensch, and Luke Brown that gives the sense that Adelaide may this year be a club with more than just a few stars but a team well rounded in all positions that may prove to be an AFL superpower over the next 3 to 4 years.

Looking at your 5 tier set up i mostly agree with you, it is a well thought out structure list that brings a clear point across. I tend to agree with you that crows may be a tier two side, however i think the final pieces of information that will determine whether the crows are contenders and a team that could build an AFL dynasty will be decided by the result of Adelaide’s next two games against The Dogs at Etihad stadium and Port Adelaide in a showdown at Adelaide Oval.
