Yes, the Wallabies lack of skill is very bad. Not only the forwards but the backs are becoming very one dimensional – Bernard Foley is one for instance. Basically, the Wallabies squad is made up of very average players who get their own job done. Only 2 players in the pack could be classed as ‘X Factor’ (Hooper, Pocock) yet they play the same position, and Folau in the backline who is probably playing in the wrong position.

Are the Wallabies really that bad?

I actually have considered all of these points and I have been saying this for many years and now the Wallabies will suffer for it. It has been proven at 20’s level (JWC) and now at the Wallabies. Australia has to make RU an attractive sport again, sadly it lost a lot of supporters due to how the ARU has been run, and the players who put it’s look in jeopardy. So if you look at the international game of Rugby League, it is not as good as what Union has to offer and they have to use that to draw players in. If you can’t fix from the bottom, you have to start at the top because something is not right with the ARU.

You make very good points, that I have not thought about. But yes, South Africa are looking relatively weak also. Just scraping past Argentina who is improving every year since their introduction to the Rugby Championship.

South Africa v Wallabies will come down to who wants it more and pride in their shirt. The way I see AS developing is how Lancaster took England in and tried to change their playing style. Though I do see Argentina finishing second, leaving Wallabies and the Springboks battling it out for last placed.

Are the Wallabies really that bad?

Wallabies have great depth, but when majority of those players play for Wallabies they end up usually going off the radar etc Liam Gill? I do believe Wallabies are missing pace on the wings. That is the biggest weak point. Haylett Petty is no winger, Rob Horne is no winger, Ashley Cooper has majority played his career on the wing for Wallabies but he is no winger either as for Tomane, he was never good enough. Wallabies need proper wingers, Naiyaravoro and ]Koroibete (NRL – Melbourne Storm winger) should be the wingers. I am no, Wallabies nor All Blacks fan in fact I am a England supporter – but on the weekend I will be hoping Wallabies will put up a good fight against the All Blacks, maybe an upset.

Let’s say Souths lose Inglis. You have two wingers in Gray and Johnston. Souths best option would be to try sign Watkins and bring in this young talent by the name of Charnze Nicoll Klokstad: if you havent heard of him here you go – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1HPBf2vuqA

I know its a gamble, but they will have more salary cap space

The chopping block: Clipboard holders' edition

Believe it or not, the Sharks players are a bit knackered. They could rest up this week, but Knights could be the team to end the streak.

Huge mismatch looms when the Sharks host the Knights

Rabbitohs need a new back-line. Watching the game against Broncos the forward pack was damaging as ever. Sam was running through making breaks, George and Tom were damaging bumping off players, Turner putting in his tackles. Crichton off the bench looks a prospect. The backs for Rabbitohs – in particular, the centre’s and halves are not up to standards. Gray has a great running game, needs to develop ball skills if he wants to stay a centre. Keary leaves which open up a new spot – could shift Cody Walker there and sign a new full-back. As for right centre, Rabbitohs should look to the super league and sign Kallum Watkins – can defend, run and holds his line well, will be good with Johnston, while Inglis and Gray on the left side.

The chopping block: Clipboard holders' edition

I did not want to believe the rife between the players because of the Burgess boys but this article makes sense. For Rabbitohs to turn it around is for all 3 Burgess boys to make a stand and play their hearts out for their teammates to prove why they are so important. I feel effort will be put in on Friday, but Broncos to still win by 12+

The Burgess effect: The painful truth behind South Sydney's woes

The thing about Rabbitohs is that they are easily targeted. After 2014, most teams knew they got the front foot off Sam and the twins – the rest of the pack followed. George and Tom are being targeted more than ever this year as well as Sam. They are not used to this pressure week in week out. Like of Napa, Taumalolo, Taupau and almost the entire forward pack of every team going after 3 players is not what they are used to – you could call it fear. The thing about this is that the season before 2014, Sam said he was going to change his playing style to just focus on playing and less targeting certain players instead of winning a battle it was more about winning a game, George and Tom have followed him with that. These boys have to assert their dominance again and target the other clubs enforcers to bring fear. Sam with hits, George and Tom running over the top. Then Inglis will feel confident again in himself with himself not be carrying all the weight of having to do something special in attack.

Souths’ lame forwards are the reason the club is going backwards

SH has always been dominant, NH not so dominant. The coaching of the two classes apart. Now the Lions (England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland) are coached by SH coaches and the way they are playing their rugby as a national side is changing. If you look into what Eddie is trying to do with England you will see it makes sense. Eddie says Super Rugby is boring, want to know why? The Australia conference is struggling again – and it’s the same old talent producing the goods for their clubs with the odd 1 or two coming out of their shells. NZ well is being NZ, excitement machines with almost there rugby looking good as always. SA well the middle of the bunch is still the middle of the bunch, with performances of inconsistency. That is why Super Rugby can get boring, its playing style is exciting but it’s nothing new.
Here is what Eddie is trying to do, England has a dominant forward pack – they have always had that. But if you add the talent they have at their clubs from the backs, England is a dangerous prospect. Henry Slade is in the mould of Jonny Wilkinson/Matt Giteau, he is a hearty defender who is clever with the ball in hand who can play anywhere in the backline really, there is also Jack Nowell, Anthony Watson, Manu Tuilagi, Cipriani, Ford and much more. The reason this is exciting well is because it’s something new and it may be old here but England could out-pay the Wallabies at their own attacking game come June, and do not forget the forward pack.

Eddie Jones is stupid to trash rugby's best club tournament

Rubbish article. As much as I would have loved Sam to stick it out in union, the sport was not for him.. simple as that. He could not be stuck in a sport learning for another 4 years, especially if it is not satisfying him.

Burgess could have been a great flanker. He was a great flanker. Most turn-overs in the Premiership on his first game and top the tackled count for Bath. It was not that he did not have the stomach, it was he did not have the time to do it. His 12months in union he learnt that playing flanker or centre none of those positions fully pushed him to his limits as playing anywhere in the forwards in league.

Sam Burgess was not a failure, he succeeded in what he wanted to do. He probably got more out of it than what he had anticipated.

Burgess, I'm not angry, just disappointed

The success of English clubs over the weekend proves England do have the talent. Its biggest problem is the consistency and being able to get or even let these players express themselves on the international stage. Whether it has to do with the coaching management or the development stages as they were kids its not letting English rugby grow. England are a team who could be described as ‘Sleeping Giants’ as they have so many talent and all the resources you need but they have not had the right coach.

Lancaster took them forward and the progression had stopped. We have seen some excellent attack from England under Lancaster. Some great tries and individual performances from some players. Mike Brown against Wallabies, JJ in the 6N as Mike Brown in the 6N 2014, Anthony Watson with some electric feet, Jack Nowell with some blistering runs and some tries. But these are all just mini highlights for the You Tube reels what we need to see are these things happening in every game and I believe it could happen with the player they have. Savea is able to use his talents and show them throughout the course of the 80 and if its not Savea, its Milner Skudder if its not Skudder its Ben Smith or its Dan Carter or its Nonu, but it all gels together all the individual talent is shown in one game not just one player, and most of ABs tries are team tries where all individual talents are shown and then finished off. We have seen it so many times, the Wallabies do it, Ireland can do it but I feel England can match the ABs with it – which leads to why the fans are confident or others like to call it ‘arrogant’ or ‘cocky’

Though it is stupid to be that confident seeing as England have not yet proved it. The fans are waiting for it to come and they know the potential is there just imagine Watson side stepping his way through who offloads to JJ who dazzles through and runs down the field and is able to offload to George Ford who has vision to put a chip across the field to the waiting Jack Nowell who finishes the exciting attack! Though this is only imagination, but it is capable of this generation of England players as shown at club level – perfect example of the video above of Alex Goode chipping and the offload to score a brilliant try.

RFU and England fans are hoping Eddie Jones is able to awaken these ‘Sleeping Giants’ and unleash them on the international stage and who better to kick it off against then the die-hard Scottish!

Is English rugby back on track after a weekend of European success?
