Blacktown City FC are looking to extend their run in the FFA Cup and make it to the semi-finals with a huge upset over Sydney FC. Join The Roar from 7:30pm (AEST) for live commentary.

After dominating the Bonnyrigg White Eagles in the Round of 16 in awful conditions, Blacktown now face a massive step up in the competition against the two-time A-League champions, Sydney FC.

Patrick Antelmi bagged two against the White Eagles, with Joey Gibbs also getting on the scoresheet.

Blacktown City made a name for themselves in the round of 32, which saw them score four goals in extra time to defeat Sydney United 58 6-2. No goal was more memorable than Danny Choi’s long rage effort from inside his own half, which went viral in an instant.

Choi and Antelmi are both rumoured to be linked with A-League clubs, while the other players will all be looking to impress.

After knocking out Perth Glory in extra time in the Round of 16, with Milos Ninkovic and Alex Brosque both scoring in extra time to give Sydney FC the 2-0 win away from home, Sydney FC will look to make a statement against Blacktown and show why they play in Australia’s elite league.

The Sky Blues have looked shaky at times in this competition, and coming in as heavy favourites against a side with nothing to lose may work against them.

What may work in their favour is the match being played on a synthetic pitch, with David Carney claiming that the artificial surface will suit how Sydney FC play.

Prediction
Blacktown City FC have quality players who could be in the A-League, but that might not be enough to upset the former A-League champions. If they allow Sydney FC get into their groove, they could be in for a long night.

Blacktown City FC 0-2 Sydney FC.
