On Wednesday night, following long negotiations, AFL chairman Mike Fitzpatrick was flanked by CEO Andrew Demetriou as he announced the agreed punishments handed to Essendon.

Essendon Chairman Paul Little indicated that Hird will coach the side in 2015, following his ban lifting on August 25, 2014. Little indicated that Hird will receive a contract extension, which has been agreed but not documented.
The club will not refund memberships, with Little repeating that the club is now looking to the future, as the drama hits the balance sheet hard.
