How will Carlton kick through this impregnable Dees defence?
For the last 3 years, the Dees have had arguably the best defence in the competition with solid rebounders in Jake Lever, Steven May and more recently Tom McDonald who played a crucial role on Jeremy Cameron last week, freeing up Lever and May to play the interceptor role.
Whilst Geelong has a very potent forward line, the Demons restricted them to a mere 66 points, with both Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins going goalless as the Cats were simply unable to bypass the Dees setup behind the ball effectively.
This would be a major concern for Michael Voss and Carlton on Thursday night given the Blues struggles to connect effectively forward due to an overdependence on main key talls in Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay.
Carlton simply has to find a way to diversify their ball movement beyond kicking long to Curnow and McKay otherwise you’d suspect the Dees defence will be able to negate these two talls and therefore make scoring very difficult for the Blues.

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 9: Can Hawkins reverse form, are Dons finals contenders and how will Harley go against Pies?

True Pearce is having a fantastic year! You cant really expect Weitering to stop all 3 of Amiss, Treacy and Taberner??

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 5: Are we sleeping on the Cats, Will West Coast's pain continue and How good are the Dees' forwards?

Whoops ???? didn’t realise that mistake, was so caught up in his good performance against Freo. Thanks for calling that out

That’s the other thing, I didn’t quite get to mention here. Their midfield looks amazing and it’ll be interesting to see their mix and how they use Fyfe and O’Meara

We're only three games in... but is this the year that Freo fans can finally dream of Flagmantle?

They just have so many, its crazy and impossible to list them all!! Best kicking team in the comp

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 3: Can the Pies be re-heated, Are Port the real deal, Can Jezza's form last for the Cats?

Ok but can we please appreciate Merrett. He personified the ‘edge’ or whatever you wanna call it and actually played a very good game of football. More of Essendon need to follow him in actually embodying this competitiveness in actual play
