Round 3 of the A-League will be poetry in motion

Brisbane host Sydney to kick off Round 3, as the winless champs look to get one over the famous FC.

The Roar are missing Berisha it’s sure plain to see, but he no longer plays for you Mr. Mul-vee
So get over it and don’t take it slow or Sydney will hand you your third loss in a row.
Og missed a cup tie for a slap or a fist, while Petko is out of this game for an air swing that missed
Brisbane to win by the odd goal in three and I hope you haven’t noticed my Petko tautology,

On Saturday the Vics will be out there in force, but they’d turn up for a cup field of horse,
And it does get confusing at this time of year when the nags are more popular than football and beer,
Is it the Victorian derby at Etihad in spring, and the Melbourne Derby at Flemington where the punters all sing?
Will the Spanish thoroughbred be too hard to grapple? Or will he be figuratively gelded? His mind on the Big Apple
If it’s like the Sydney derby it will be lots of fun but like a good horse race will dead heat 1-1

Pheonix and Newcastle have legions of fans, they will gather in their thousands in the Wellingon stands,
More like hundreds to be honest but ah what the heck these two clubs are evenly matched neck-to-neck
Last year the Pheonix’s away form was dim, but they were a tough nut to crack in the old cake tin,
Ernie’s worked hard and the football has flowed, now they lose at home and win on the road
What’s a wily punter to do? Let’s see, Wellington 1 Newcastle2.

The Nullabor derby is at not as it seems when about 10,000 k’s separate these two teams,
Bruce Djite’s on fire as is Carusca and Cirio, (which to the linguistically challenged is pronounced as Thirio)
Josip Gombau loves to coach with a grin, he espouses beautiful football but now knows how to win
But with an Irishman named Keogh this Glory team is pumped, and with Nicho on board the Reds might be stumped,
Perth on the table are second to none but for me the result will be Adelaide 3-1

I’ve got to the end of my verses so it’s time to ease up on your curses,
But there is one match I really should tip, The Wanderers three, Al Hilal zip
