The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Round 26 - the jostle for finals positions is on in earnest
Here is the way the Roar expert panel sees all the action unfolding across the final weekend of play prior to the semi-finals.
Besart Berisha isn’t sure how he’ll react if he scores against old A-League club Brisbane Roar on Friday.
But with his goalscoring record, he better decide soon.
Berisha leads the A-League scoring charts with five goals from six matches since his off-season move south to Melbourne Victory.
He’s only sure of one thing ahead of his first match against the side he led to two titles in three seasons.
“If I score, it will be good,” he said.
“This is the first thing – but I will see (about the celebrations), it all depends.”
At least he has a plan to deal with any booing.
“I think we have a lot of our supporters here so I don’t think I will be able to hear that,” he said.
“But in football that is the way, if you hurt the other team, always you get booed.”
Berisha’s respect for the Roar ensures this match – at least until kick-off – doesn’t feel like a grudge match.
Instead, it’s more like someone introducing their new partner to their ex.
While Berisha has managed his move with a minimum of fuss, his old club has endured a tough month.
The Roar started the season with four losses, before finally kick-starting their campaign with four unanswered goals against Newcastle last weekend.
It’s the worst start to an A-League season for any defending champions, with expectations that coach Mike Mulvey will now bring his side up the A-League table.
Berisha suggested that could make them more than a handful for Victory at Etihad Stadium.
“I have a lot of respect for the team, the supporters,” he said.
“Brisbane played their last game really well, so we have to play our best game and be at 100 per cent to beat Brisbane.”
