Sydney FC are to play a match against English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, May 30 at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.

The eight-time FA Cup winners have promised to bring their best available squad to Sydney – including Harry Kane, arguably the hottest young player in the EPL – for the clash with the Sky Blues.

“I am delighted to be able to confirm that Sydney FC will compete against one of English football’s top clubs, Tottenham Hotspur,” said Sky Blues chairman Scott Barlow.

“This will be a fantastic occasion for this city and one for all Sydney FC supporters and Sydneysiders to get excited about.

“Tottenham Hotspur are one of the biggest and most glamorous football clubs and share our philosophy of exciting, attacking football on the pitch and an iconic, premium brand off it.

“This has the potential to be the most-anticipated game of the year and will stand out as a highlight in the 2015 sporting calendar.”

Tottenham are the only EPL club visiting Sydney this year and the clash will be the first since the Sky Blues met Everton and Blackburn Rovers in 2010.

Spurs will bring a squad of world-class players to face Sydney FC including Kane, Danish midfield wizard Christian Eriksen and champion French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Kane, 21, is tipped to make his debut for the England national team in the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley on March 27.

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold said it would be a wonderful experience for his players to test themselves against some of the best footballers in the world.

“Tottenham are one of the biggest clubs in the English Premier League and have a fantastic record and history.

“We are looking forward to finishing off our season on a high with this game.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s team will travel to Sydney at the end of their Premier League campaign.

“We are looking forward to visiting Sydney and giving our fans in that part of the world an opportunity to see the team up close.

“We all appreciate the fantastic support we receive across the world and the commitment that people in different time zones make to watch games live on TV so, to bring the team to them, is a great way to say thank you,” said Pochettino.
