Manchester United are on the verge of finding out whether or not Ilkay Gundogan will be landing on the shores of England to play for the Red Devils, but they will have to fend off interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The player is currently a first eleven starter for Borussia Dortmund and doesn’t look likely to become a substitute anytime soon for the club. Thus, United would have to make a substantially impressive bid in order to obtain the services of the 24-year-old holding midfielder.

Gundogan could possibly end the drama at Manchester United which is surrounded by the turmoil and sadness surrounding the lack of drive at the club. Gundogan, who is rumoured by many of Dortmund’s fans to be unsettled at the club, could do with a sea change. And what a better sea change than trying to make it in the English Premier League.

Angel Di Maria struggled to make it at Manchester Untied but he has now become a vital part of the Manchester United team under new manager Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United were struggling mid-table before the sacking of David Moyes and the arrival of Van Gaal has produced an improved standing in the league. The Red Devils are in the top four and some would say it is thanks to the tactical efforts of Van Gaal.

United would benefit hugely from the signing of Gundogan in the next transfer window if the rumours become true and it could even push them towards a title challenge, which hasn’t been a possible target for the last two years.
