I know that there is a World Cup on, it’s finals time in the other codes, the Wallabies are out of sight out of mind in the UK, the rugby journos are all probably sorting out their digs and their watering holes in London.

But why is there so little rugby being written about, right now?

There is a little comp called the NRC going on right now. Thanks to Fox we can actually watch all the games, and the standard of the rugby is fantastic.

If you are a bit of an internet geek, like me, you can watch two screens at once – if there is only one NRC game on, chances are there is an ITM (NZ) game to watch and if you know the websites where you can watch it then Saturday arvo has a feast of rugby to watch.

The only thing that I would like to suggest is that there are usually two Saturday NRC games on at 3:00pm – how we stagger them – say the first at 2:30pm and the second one a bit later.

I know that there could be problems with the light, so start the first one even earlier… and yes, I know that they are recorded and available online, but there’s nothing quite like watching it live.

But the main problem is that nobody seems to be writing about it – at least not in my two local options, The Australian and the Courier Mail, anyway.

Are we fair dinkum about supporting the third tier? Because we should be. There is some great talent on show and some exciting new ‘no names’ – almost every team is producing a great new talent.

So, come on ARU, and the rugby press – get behind it more and don’t hide your light under a bushel.
