The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Round 26 - the jostle for finals positions is on in earnest
Here is the way the Roar expert panel sees all the action unfolding across the final weekend of play prior to the semi-finals.
Perth Glory will be hoping for a win on their home field when they face Melbourne Victory at nib Stadium on Saturday night. Join The Roar for live scores from the match starting at 6:40pm local time, 9:40pm AEDT.
The Glory are on the outside of the current A-League top six looking in as they face an enormous challenge to close the gap between themselves and the currently sixth-placed Adelaide United.
The Reds have seven competition points in hand over the Glory – or two wins and a draw – and with eleven games left for either side in the season, the time to make that up in is beginning to run low.
Similarly Melbourne Victory are one of a pack of teams currently facing the Western Sydney Wanderers for top spot on the A-League table.
The Wanderers have amassed 33 competition points and have the second best goal difference in the league, more than a win clear of any other team in the league and exactly two wins clear of fourth-placed Victory.
Both sides could certainly use a win as they look to pursue their particular goals – Perth hoping for an unlikely finals berth, Victory looking to knock the Wanderers off the top of the table.
Victory have been on a solid streak of form recently, with five consecutive games undefeated and wins over the Newcastle Jets (1-0), Brisbane Roar (4-0) and Sydney FC (1-0) in that time.
Perth on the other hand come into this match on the back of one of the most dominant performances of the season, a 6-1 smashing of the Newcastle Jets.
They played Victory five weeks ago in the last match of 2015 for either side and on that occasion achieved a 1-1 draw at AAMI Park. They’ll take confidence from that result tonight as they aim to go one better on their home field.
Prediction: Glory to cause an upset, 2-1.
