Australia 6/160
India 4/161
Australia and India will face off this morning for the last semi-final spot in a do or die matchup in Mohali. Join The Roar from 1am (AEDT) for all the big hits and wickets coming from the final Super 10 match.
Both sides find themselves on four points coming into the contest after two wins and a loss, leaving them sitting precariously on the edge of elimination and qualification all at the same time.
India have won the last five international T20s between the two, including a three match series just two months ago in January.
Despite their recent history in the format against the Indians, Australia are coming into the vital fixture off the back of two convincing wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan within the last week.
Similarly, India also went down in their opening match to New Zealand, only to come back and win their next two games to give themselves a shot at the semi-finals.
The tournament hosts have had some up and down performances so far, however, their team has certainly been consistent, keeping the same XI for every game so far in the tournament as they look to use the same side this morning as they have during the whole WorldT20.
Australia on the other hand have been all over the place in terms of team structure, using 14 of their 15 man squad in their first three games.
Aaron Finch came back into the side for Australia’s last game against Pakistan and is expected to keep his spot, with much of the batting line up looking to stay the same. Nathan Coulter-Nile is under pressure though having not taken a single wicket in the first three games.
Prediction:
It’s do or die for both teams – India and Australia haven’t really looked like tournament favourites at any stage and have struggled a little with consistency, it’s a hard one to pick and a lot will depend on both sides top order getting the start they need.
With conditions suiting the home side, Australia will find it tough going to get away with the win here.
India to win by 5 wickets or 10 runs
Can India use their home crowd to fire them through to the semi-finals? Or will the Australians sneak past the hosts in an effort to win their maiden T20 championship? Find out this morning from 1am (AEDT) for all the highlights and action, only on The Roar.
