REPORT: BULLS BEAT STORMERS 17-13

Final score
Bulls 17
Stormers 13

Match preview:

The Stormers travel to Pretoria to face the Bulls with top spot in the South African Conference and finals positioning on the line. Catch all the action from 3:10am (AEST) on The Roar.

Both sides are travelling home to South Africa on the back of disappointing results.

The Sharks endured a tough tour of Australia, losing out to the Brumbies and Waratahs in consecutive weeks.

The Stormers snatch a 17-all draw from the jaws of defeat against the Sunwolves last week, scoring a try on the stroke of full time to salvage much-needed points.

Both sides are sitting relatively comfortable with six wins from their ten games, but two fairly even South African conferences means a stacked pile at the top of the overall standings in the fight for the finals.

Four South African teams are within four points of each other coming into Round 13, the Bulls and Stormers included, meaning any of them (Sharks and Lions being the others) can force their way into top spot by the end of the weekend.

Interestingly, the Stormers have won the last four encounters between the two sides by an average margin of nearly two tries.

Both sides share six wins each playing at Pretoria, not a great record for the Bulls, who pride themselves on a fortress at home.

Springbok and Stormers inside centre Damian de Allende will play his 50th Super Rugby cap today. Lining up next to him in the centres is Johnny Kotze, with regular co-captain Juan de Jongh missing out due to a hamstring injury.

Coach Robbie Fleck has made three changes to his Stormers forward pack, headlined by the return of 24-year-old Eben Etzebeth, who missed the last five games with a calf injury.

Etzebeth will lock into the second row, while Oli Kebble and Bongi Mbonambi pack into the front at loosehead and hooker respectively.

For the Bulls, four changes have been made to the starting 15, with coach Nollis Marais bringing in Travis Ismaiel (wing), Francois Brummer (flyhalf), Piet van Zyl (scrum half) and Arno Botha to run on.

Prediction
Both teams have made plenty of changes, but the Stormers have the stronger line up.

Stormers by 2 points.

Can the Bulls get the job done in front of the home crowd and solidify their standings at the top end of the table, or will the Stormers run riot on the road?

Follow all the action on The Roar from 3:10am (AEST).
