The Melbourne Demons have luckily escaped with a 2-point win on Sunday, thanks to Gold Coast’s Tom Lynch failing to convert a set shot after the siren that would’ve won the match.

Melbourne are coming off a loss in which they led every statistical category and dominated West Coast over in WA.

Gold Coast faced the other team from the West, Fremantle, and their tall forwards were far too good for the struggling Dockers.

Melbourne won’t look to change too much of their gameplan, but they will no doubt be practicing their goal kicking after a woeful display in front of goals.

Gold Coast also probably won’t change much to their gameplan but know they are facing a stronger opposition in Melbourne. The Suns seem to struggle when playing at the home of footy, only winning two games since they came into the league.

These two teams met earlier in the season, when Melbourne dominated the Suns by 73 points at Metricon Stadium. In that game, Gold Coast lost two players either side of quarter-time and had others suffering niggles throughout the second half.

After leading at halftime by five, Melbourne went on a tear in the second half, kicking 16 goals to the Suns’ six. Tom Lynch led the Suns with four goals, while the Demons had three players kick three goals, with Jack Viney the standout for the Demons.

Who to watch this week
Tom Lynch is one of the form forwards in the game, so Tom McDonald will be asking why he is being punished after also playing a role on West Coast spearhead Josh Kennedy last week.

Gold Coast will look to Tom Nicholls to put a stop to Max Gawn, who was again a standout for the Demons.
