The Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United meet in the second semi-final of the FFA Cup at Campbelltown Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:30pm (AEDT).

Sydney FC wait patiently for the winners of this clash, between two teams that have made excellent starts to their A-League campaigns.

Adelaide have risen from the ashes of an incredibly disappointing 2016-17 and the Wanderers look to have found the scoring and creativity they have been seeking, in the form of Oriol Riera and Alvaro Cejudo.

The Wanderers receive a huge advantage, having the home state venue, and the Red and Black Bloc should be out in force to make some noise.

However, Adelaide have had the extra day’s rest, which might not sound like much, however the Wanderers are on a three-day turnaround and legs could be an issue in the latter stages of the contest.

The key man for the Reds will undoubtedly be Johan Absalonsen, who would be a short-priced favourite for player of the year honours at this early stage. If Vince Lia can produce another of his long-range strikes, Adelaide may push Western Sydney all the way.

Prediction
Both teams have shown that they have goals in them and once the game starts to open up, the Wanderers will continue on their excellent recent form and find avenues through the Adelaide defence.

It will take time, however the Sydneysiders will set up another derby to savour in the FFA Cup final in November.
