Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Kiss might regret playing Tate almost every minute prior to his RC.

I don’t why Thomas doesn’t get more game time. He has a better pass than McDermott IMHO.

'Not ideal': Reds star duo cop Super Rugby bans after red cards - but where's the consistency?

Well it’s easy to say sorry after you do something…

Yes, I always suspect people who say sorry after they get caught are actually saying I’m sorry I got caught.

I he’s arriving in June I assume that means he’ll be in contention for the Wallabies this year?

Huge coup sees Wallabies hooker coming home to Super Rugby on long-term deal, with World Cup in sights

I remember an American team touring once – years ago. They must have converted a QB into the guy to throw into the lineout because he was able to throw the ball to the other side of the field where it was caught by the visually unimpaired openside winger.

Thanks John. Love this sort of analysis backed up by statistics rather than opinion and how that translates into how the teams play.
Also, thanks for introducing Burn City. Had not heard that before.

ANALYSIS: Rebels rely on brute force over defensive integrity - but there's a sweet spot they can expose in finals chase

I think seeing a competitive side playing with physicality, low errors and precision will generate plenty of good will and hope for Schmidt.

Hell, I ‘ll take losing to Wales by less than 34 as good start.

How Schmidt landed All Blacks icon at Wallabies - and why '80 per cent of coaching is selection'

I’m not a Coleman fan because I think his mismanagement of Latu last season was criminal, and TBH I really don’t know whether he’s a good coach or not, but I do feel for him. Edmed lands those two kicks and the ‘Tahs are coming 6th by my calculations and the discussions about his coaching ability would be heading in a completely different direction.

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

I think in the old days that game would have been cancelled for fear of someone drowning at the bottom of a ruck.

Rob Penney might be available again next year.

Deja vu for Tane as Drua deliver another heart-breaker to under fire Coleman

However his comments do not come close to what Rassie did with his video so his punishment should be less.

But what could WR hit him with that is smaller and lighter than a feather?

'Grow up': France coach still crying salty tears over RWC exit, makes 'disgusting' claim about Kiwi ref

Thanks Harry, interesting article, but I do have to pick you up on the spelling mistake. There is only one ‘n’ in Annus Eddie.

Jed, Ned and Tane Edmed: The direction Joe Schmidt should head to put Eddie era to bed

OK, thanks Jez. I missed that.
Fair enough, if they intend to continue serving up the same same and pretending that there isn’t a problem then I’m on board with the domestic comp.
However as this will inevitably drive more of our better players overseas, I think Australia needs to start aggressively asserting that the country over club rule is enforced.

'Ready to go': Jaguares set for early return to Super Rugby if Rebels fall over

A lot of merit to what you say Jez, but what worries me about a domestic only competition is loss of exposure to better teams. I know that NZ dominance is a big turn off in SRP at the moment but I think the real problem with SRP is the lack of resource equalization. It’s a glorified selection trial not a genuine competition between teams that are able to attract the resources that would like to have playing for their team. Open up the player market, retaining a salary cap of course, and I think you will get a much closer competition between the teams. Teams will still be essentially Australian and NZ centric but the Australian teams will be better equipped to compete and still be getting exposure to NZ teams.

'Ready to go': Jaguares set for early return to Super Rugby if Rebels fall over

The old adage goes that a fool and his money are quickly parted. In this instance the fool didn’t even accept the money.

'He screwed our state': The act that still angers Twiggy Forrest and why he's not ready to jump back in

Constantly amazes me how poor some of our elite players are in the basics, passing in particular.

'Our system is failing': The 'crisis' sinking Australian rugby - and the 'crucified' coach that shows it

Yeah, that was my impressions too Jez. Most of the team trotting back nowhere near the play when the opposition scores is a very bad look.

'A bit deflating': Headaches for Waratahs after Reds trial thrashing, Brumbies win after Force miss post-siren kick

I remember in the Wallabies ‘trial’ game against France before the WC the then coach said that he wasn’t worried about getting thrashed because the objective was to not let the opposition see what the team was capable of. Possibly Coleman is using this strategy in the trials. ????

'A bit deflating': Headaches for Waratahs after Reds trial thrashing, Brumbies win after Force miss post-siren kick

Thanks for explaining that background Geoff.
The thing I don’t understand in this restructuring of Australian rugby, is if the Rebels and the Brumbies are not solvent then what do they have to negotiate with? If they are not solvent then how is their position any different from the Tahs?

The Wrap: Unity, integrity and the other casualties of shameful leaks aimed at the Rebels

Yeah,, good point Litchfield. I was highly critical of a number of things that Thorn did during his tenure, but we forget that they were a basket case when he took them over and he did do a good job to turn them around.

'We've moved to a more mental realm': JOC reveals the change from Thorn to Kiss - and his 2024 ambitions

I’d love to see players facing consequences for poor discipline. I think that would go a long way to turning things around.

Let the mind games begin ... What Razor's expecting to see from Joe's Wallabies

Can Kuenzle play FB as well?
I was looking over the Force squad and they seem to have a pretty decent roster and will hopefully be much more competitive this year, but they seemed pretty weak in the back three.

The forgotten young gun who wants to change the Western Force forever - and can

Hope so BF. Cannot stress how important it is to me to see the discipline improve. It’s like we’re giving every team a 6 – 9 point head start because of our poor atrocious lack of discipline.

Exclusive: Wallabies to turn to Kiwi Schmidt as Eddie Jones' replacement

Cec, I think that most Wallabies’ fans are very humble these days – with much to be humble about.

Exclusive: Wallabies to turn to Kiwi Schmidt as Eddie Jones' replacement

I’ve always argued that the loss to Italy was not Rennie’s fault. It was Rugby Australia’s fault (and as I’m always happy to dump on McLennan, then by extension it was his fault.) Five matches in five weeks was a ludicrous schedule which forced him into play a B team against Italy.
BTW, how telling is this comment about McLennan’s value to Australian rugby:
Indeed, had former RA chairman Hamish McLennan still been in the job, Schmidt wouldn’t have given serious thought to it.

Yes, Roy Masters wrote an interesting piece, last weekend I think, in the SMH about soccer’s inexorable rise and its willingness to play the long game in its quest for world domination.
