I was thinking about the head gear on saturday night. But the reality is the concussion comes form rapid deceleration/acceleration. Head gear just isn't thick enough to meaningfully alter the force distribution. Having said that it would make some difference (small) in the setting of direct impact. In the setting of recent symptoms I would have thought wearing one would be wise.
Definitely agree re stoppages. Although it feels like Rugby is much more continuous than perhaps 10 years ago? I can recall when it seemed we barely made it to 4 or 5 phases. Now that is more minimum standard.
It is however much more enjoyable with a confident ref. I don't think the TMO should be able to call for anything to be rechecked though. There is already three refs on the field.
