Armchair rugby fan, but I'm very good at it. :)

Astute observations Rhys.
The strength in contact was noticeable.
They look settled and trusting in their skills too (even Petaia before his hamstrings tightened up).
Some clinical finishing too.
It’s promising going forward, although I’m still nervous about their ability to handle the speed across the ditch.

Reds' commitment to skill and strength shows against the Force

Harry and Brett – the podcase is an absolute joy. Thanks for putting it together

Super Rugby tipping week 3: I’ve got the 'losing in the last minute' Blues

Lomani is an excellent signing for them. Keen to see how that plays out.

Reeling Rebels present Fijian Drua their best chance of a first Super Rugby scalp

PeterK I like your thinking.
I don’t know if you recall but the previous itiration of the NRC (or previous previous?) had free kicks only for ruck/maul scrum infringements outside the 22 unless repeated or cynical. It made for an excellent spectacle in my opinion and I think would benefit to no end. To see a team kick 3 points because a lineout jumper touched his oponents arm 47m out to me is a travesty of the game.

The Thursday rugby two-up: How the law variations have made an impact, and the ones we want to see next

Congrats Carlos on your 7s boys by the way. I love there aggressive 7s style. Great to watch.

Erasmus's extraordinary 62 minute video rant at Aussie ref Nic Berry stuns World Rugby

I was at the game, about the same distance from the screen as the Ref really. I’m not sure I agree with that excuse and I’ve seen plenty of other refs put TMOs in their place before. But it does create pressure on the onfield Ref. There were 2 others on the field too. I’m not saying we should hang O’keefe out to dry, but given there was always doubt at the time (why else did it take so long) then a Red was IMO completely inappropriate.

The fact the red card was actually overturned in review adds more support to Geoff’s suggestion of a report option. Yellow and on report. Move on…

CLEARED! Koroibete set to face All Blacks as judiciary overthrows 'travesty'

At the game, I can’t recall such a unanimous response by 34000 people. The whole event looked truly horrible for the game. Ironically it seemed to produce one of the more exciting games I’ve watched there.
To see the WBs adapt and control the game even under manned was heart warming. I was particularly impressed with how Hooper managed the Ref. That RA deal doesn’t look so bad now.

Thanks for the wrap Geoff. I think the report idea is a good one. Faster too. The first 20 minutes was very disjointed and stop start. Speeding up these processes would make a big difference

The Wrap: Will Marika Koroibete’s red card be the making of the Wallabies?

How are you watching it? It depends on your device as to how you control it.

The Wrap: So where was TJ when the Hurricanes needed him?

It’s not necessarily a “Stan” thing but how the app is built on your watching device

The Wrap: So where was TJ when the Hurricanes needed him?

DA if you’re watching on an apple tv or smart tv you can jump ahead 10 seconds with a click. Works a treat. Probably a bit better on the apple tv but works on both

The Wrap: So where was TJ when the Hurricanes needed him?

Very good point Geoff. He hasn’t really “come back” yet has he. And with Wilson and Valentini playing as they are it’s likely he’s got more down time to come.

The Wrap: Reds take their learnings to break Australia’s Super Rugby duck

I’ve wondered this a few times – can the ref call a free kick against if they don’t use it?

In the same game Rebels were penalised for an attacking scrum because the ball was available and they didn’t use it after which both front rows came up – was a weird ruling IMO. And yep – inconsistent.

The Wrap: Reds take their learnings to break Australia’s Super Rugby duck

Along this Geoff, is there capacity post game for review of hits not addressed during the game?
I think the rules are fine, but we need all refs to enforce them correctly.
I’m thinking a certain Barrett on Friday night who somehow stayed on the field despite what should at least have been a yellow……..

The Wrap: Reds take their learnings to break Australia’s Super Rugby duck

Careful JC. Positive, encouraging, possibly even reasonable. Fortunate you didn’t get moderated. 😛 😁 👍

Wouldn't it be nice: Rugby AU gets new jersey sponsor for Wallabies and Wallaroos

Also thought harsh but how else do you manage children!!

Fun game, those Canes long range tries are great to watch.

Hurricanes finish Super Rugby Aotearoa season with win over Highlanders

Given that it was TK’s later “legal” hit that took HP out of the game.

Tevita Kuridrani banned for Force's Super Rugby final

Very true DA. Fortunately Dwards might not actually be my real name. 😉
Ironically all the A Listers want to live there now (well Byron bay but it’s essentially the same…….)

Super Rugby tipping panel Week 10: Penultimate week and whatever the one after that is called

Yep – another plus.

Super Rugby tipping panel Week 10: Penultimate week and whatever the one after that is called

Yeah the last few minutes of reffing was a bit messy. I’d tipped the force so was happy to take the point TBH ;). Especially after the NZ games left me 0 for 2.

As a queenslander with some distant Lismorian heritage it hurts me to say but I actually think a win for the Tah’s would be good for the game. Good for the young Tah’s – to take a bit of confidence going forward (regardless of opinion – Penney is gone so we all just have to move on). Could almost say good for the Rebels too. They seem to have underperfomed for a few years now and sneaking into the final series is potentially another “papering over the cracks” moment.

Super Rugby tipping panel Week 10: Penultimate week and whatever the one after that is called

Tah’s starting to look like an actual Rugby team. Donaldson looked excellent last week.
Perese is such a devstating runner – but every time he runs – well it just looks ugly. Effective, but ugly.

Reckon it’s your boys week.

Super Rugby tipping panel Week 10: Penultimate week and whatever the one after that is called

Their language seems to suggest they don’t see themselves any where near the finished product. BT doesn’t strike me as I guy likely to fall in to the hype.

Coach’s Corner Issue 8: Why are the Reds such good finishers?

Ånd be beneficial for both.

Coach’s Corner Issue 8: Why are the Reds such good finishers?

Agree, much like Reds scrums or loose forwards around rucks. It’s for the players to test the edges and the officials (there are 4 of them) to police them.

Coach’s Corner Issue 8: Why are the Reds such good finishers?

Spot on RR.
The art of score board pressure is as much a team trust issue as a leadership philosophy. Rebels have maintained scoreboard pressure all season, but it seems to have stopped them seeking the meat pies. Reds are balancing it very well. But it’s the confidence that 5 will come that frees up the decision to take 3. Also, kicking over 80% helps a fair bit too.

Coach’s Corner Issue 8: Why are the Reds such good finishers?

I was particularly impressed with Flook in that setting. Seemed completely comfortable despite the big game he was thrown into.

Why Jordan Petaia can be a better rugby player than Israel Folau
