The entire Australian cricket team should be arrested for what they have done.

The spirit of cricket was murdered in cold blood by sunburnt thugs - and the game might never recover

The decision was fine, how they responded was unacceptable. Just from a tactical point of view it was stupid to show the Kiwis that they were so rattled and frustrated. That kind of behaviour sets a bad example and provides encouragement to the opposition.

Often i think Australia is wrongly critisied for playing the game aggressively. Not this time. This time they were just acting immaturely and should have a cold bucket of water tipped on their heads.

Suck it up boys: Australia's DRS blow-up was unacceptable

Pretty rude comparison. Maxwell has won a number of matches for Australia with the bat and the ball, including the last two. Comparing him to two tennis players who are yet to come close to his level of achievement and who are constantly in the news for non tennis related poor behaviour is rough, even for a hardcore Maxwell hater.

Sure Maxwell’s average isn’t near Kohli or Ab’s but his strike rate of 125 is superior to their’s: Kohli- 90 and AB- 100.

I don’t know if you watched the last couple of ODI’s but India’s inability to score at more than run a ball during crucial periods meant that they have lost every match. In that context i’d take a number 5 with a strike rate of 125 and an average of 36 over a number 5 with an average of 50 and a strike rate of 90.

So let go of your hate, get with the future and just embrace the fact that If everyone played cricket like Maxwell there would be no need for heaven, we would already be there.

Kyrgios, Tomic and Maxwell are kindred spirits

So true, when Haddin was keeping about 15% of Lyon’s wickets were caught behind, when Wade was keeping it drops to about 6%. I think Nevill is at about 10% but i think he will prove to be a better gloves man than Haddin so that will probably increase.

Poor wicketkeeping the source of Lyon's early woes

From the beginning of last December to now Lyon has played 16 test matches and averaged about 29 runs per wicket at a strike rate of about 53.

In the 10 matches Australia won his average drops to 23 and his strike rate to 43

In matches 3 Australia loses he still manages to average 31 with a strike rate of 49

The only time he doesn’t perform well is when teams block him out for a draw 3 times- average 57 strike rate 108

Those are the world class off spin numbers. And they haven’t come on grounds particularly friendly to off spin bowling, barring those two in the West Indies.

These are world class figures for an off spinner. All hail the GOAT

How does the GOAT Lyon stack up against his peers?

It’s easy for us to criticise Marsh’s selection from the out side but have anyone of us tasted his cups of tea? They could be really good. And how about his jokes? They might be really funny. This is what the Australian team needs right now. Sadly for Michael Klinger I’ve been told he’s rubbish at a brew-up.

Shaun Marsh's selection confirms it's Groundhog Day

Is anyone else being driven mad by those asides they have when they see one of the players or coaches wearing a commentary ear listening thing? Why do they keep doing it? What does it add? I want to watch the cricket. I don’t want to watch a man listening to people who are not talking about the cricket. It’s asinine.

I keep thinking the commentary can’t get any worse but it does. If they option was given between this and nothing, i would choose nothing every time.

Sport radio's quiet revolution

I think one day you will look back at that comment Nick and realise you missed a great opportunity to strike a blow for the spirit of comment.

By not withholding your opinion, you’ve shown your immaturity.

I’m not trying to set us up as being holier-than-thou.

But i don’t think I, or anyone i know, would have commented in the first place.

McCullum's spirit of cricket on display at the Gabba

Thank you for agreeing Chucked

I really respect the way they play cricket, and they way they play mind games off the field instead of on the field should be an example we all follow.

I think sledging should only take place in written form and have tried to set a good example by leaving my comments about Mr. Mcullum off the cricket field.

I do not have any kids, that i know of. Something wrong with that?

McCullum's spirit of cricket on display at the Gabba

Amen

McCullum's spirit of cricket on display at the Gabba

It would be a great opportunity for him to develop his bowling. Anyone else remember him bowling that over for Australia and sending down a plus 140k delivery? Mitch Marsh better pray Wade keeps on keeping.

Time for Wade to hang up the gloves

Agreed, the game has moved on and trying to run batsmen out is no longer in the spirit of cricket.

Australia need to be hostile in New Zealand Test series

It’s gob-smacking to me that people still defend the booing. That people keep saying leave it alone, I’ve heard enough. Some people might not think that what happened to Adam Goodes was not racist, that they booed him because they didn’t like him. But this attitude allowed hate to fester and created an environment that allowed racism to flourish. Every single person who jeerd Goode helped create a racist environment. Whether it was intentional or unintentional the end result was the same. People need to stop trying to ignore it and move on. Acknowledge it and work to make Australia a less racist country.

How Johnathan Thurston shamed Australia over Adam Goodes

Stokes watches the ball, eyes clearly on it, then he sticks his hand out to stop it as he turns to dive and tries and make his ground. It’s out. England have a history of whinging when it comes to these sorts of things. Ian Bell’s dismissal against India 2011, had a cry until it was over turned. Joe Butler gets mankaded in Sri Lanka after they warned him twice, they’re still complaining about it. But when in 2008 Sidebottom knocks over Grant Elliot and he’s run out and the shoes on the other foot and England has a chance to uphold the “Spirit Of Cricket” its a no brainer and they send Elliot packing. English cricket still has the attitude WG Grace had when he was bowled first ball of an exhibition match and he just replaced the bails because everyone had come to watch him bat. Is this the “Spirit of Cricket” England is referring too?

Stokes incident requires a rule change in cricket

He just has to hang in there until he’s 35 and then he might get a look in.

Why do the selectors hate Chris Lynn?

Lyon is perfect for the position of vice-vice captain. He already does half the talking to the media. Perfect opportunity to cement him in a leadership role. I can never see him being made permanent VC but as a back up for emergencies he’s the guy i would go too. Apart from Warner and Smith, he’s the only one with the experience as well as the job security to be considered for the position. Such an obvious decision that he will no doubt be overlooked and Ashton Agar will be rushed back into the team as VC and take Lyons spot as spinner.

Australia's leadership depth to be tested

Broad is the kinda guys opposition fans love to hate. He is a very good cricketer, often brilliant in English conditions. Personally i can’t stand the sight of his smug, self satisfied, fat head. It really twisted me up to see him tear the Aussies apart. But never in a millions years should he have walked and anyone that says he should have is so one eyed. I didn’t hear many people calling for Symond’s head when he middled that ball from Sharma to the keeper, started walking, saw Bucknor’s finger by his side, turned around and patted down the wicket, then went on to score a big hundred and win us the match (hilarious unless you are an Indian). I might not like Broad but i have never bothered to dislike someone who wasn’t a bloody good player. I take my hat off to the tosser.

Take a Broad walk on Stuart's side

So true Disco. Hauritz was a good bowler who showed that he could take wickets if he was attacked and stem runs with intelligent field placement. He showed this in England in 2009. He took the wickets of some good players, i defiantly remember he got Peiterson. Probably would have had a better average if Clarke had been his captain instead of Ponting. I remember Ponting talking about needing Hauritz to bowl more attacking lines but he didn’t turn the ball enough, or have enough variations for that. Really showed Ponting’s lack of nouse when it came to all aspects of spin bowling. There’s been a lot of talk about how the Lyon/Clarke combination could be Clarke’s biggest legacy i hope there is truth to that and Smith continues to set good fields and make astute bowling changes when it comes to spin.

Is Nathan Lyon destined to take 400 Test wickets?

As a Queensland i never thought i would hear myself cheer on Jarryd Hayne but i’ve been captivated by this story ever since he announced he was making the switch. His first punt return had me out of my chair. Pretty much stayed that way for the rest of the match. What a great performance. Already a dead set legend, no matter what happens. Freakish.

The Hayne Plane on fire against Dallas

A lot a sensible, clear headed ideas. Nice article.

Watson captain, Harris six: The way Australia's Ashes should have been

This idea has a lot of merit

An alternative to the 18th man in rugby league

A decent percentage of people who watch tennis do so with a large metal rod stuck up their bum. Couple that with the fact that tennis players wigging out at umpires makes good TV news footage and that most people who still watch the news on TV were born before world war two and are scared of zig-zag hair cuts and men with earrings and it’s not surprising Kygios has so many haters. Poor kid just has his own style and buckets of passion. He fights hard to win his matches which are seriously entertaining to watch. He doesn’t wilt in the sun like Stosur or Tomic, cant even watch those two play its so depressing. I wish people would get off his back and let him do his thing. The way things are going now the poor kids going to be either a neurotic mess or a drug addict by the time he is 22. People should stop telling him to shut up and play tennis and shut up and watch him play tennis! Sorry…..i haven’t had my morning coffee.

Kyrgios and Kyrgioser: Just another tennis wanker

Great article, i couldn’t agree more. It’s just not cricket without the C word.

No sledging, Jimmy? Not on my watch

10-1 is outrageous, what a bias one eyed article, do the right thing and take that point off England and give it to the Aussies like any sane man would do, 11-0 is a much fairer assessment.

Can England win the Ashes?

In all seriousness i think it wont be too long before a player who makes a break like that after a spilled pill will decide not to score a try and take the tackle , especially if they are ahead by more than six points. I know the article was written tongue in cheek but i think it raises a good point.

What if Greg Inglis overcame the video referee conundrum?
