All four umpires are from Victoria, what do you expect? Imagine if this game was in Adelaide and all four umpires were South Australian. There would be a Royal Commission.

Look out, the Adelaide boys are ‘intimidated’ by Joel Selwood being sent into next week. You could not script this commentary.

Pretty miraculous effort to get up today by Adelaide considering the 22-11 free kick count, that Puopolo decision did nothing to stop claims of blatant cheating from gaining plenty of traction …
Is it really 25 playing 22?
The umpires are going to do it again

That was cheating, I don’t care what anyone says, that umpire just cheated.

Crows made 100% right call on Gibbs. Carlton wanted more for Gibbs than what Adelaide got for Dangerfield, I believe they even asked for a straight swap for Rory Sloane. I mean come on. It seems that their trading with Adelaide is permanently tarnished by the success of Eddie Betts and Sam Jacobs.
The worse call was to let Lyons go, and cheaply. I would have preferred that Adelaide drove a harder bargain on Lyons for a mid second round pick and package that with pick 13 for Gibbs, but knowing Carlton they probably wouldn’t have accepted.

How have you seen the umpiring Kishan, am I just totally biased or have a few too many gone the Hawks’ way again?

Don’t worry, you’ll play Hawthorn. Umpires won’t let them lose.

Depends on who you go for I guess.
Why Round 18 is shaping as the AFL's Round of the Year
The editors can take the hit for that one, still says 15 in my document. I think the Bulldogs are similar to Adelaide in that the main thing standing in their way is Hawthorn, whom neither have beaten for years. I wouldn’t be confident on either of them against the Hawks in a final, especially on the MCG.
Why Round 18 is shaping as the AFL's Round of the Year
I used the term ‘at least’ to avoid opening Pandora’s box, but for the record I can’t see the Eagles winning it. Sydney, Hawthorn and Adelaide are equal favorites for mine.
Why Round 18 is shaping as the AFL's Round of the Year
I think we should all calm down about Dangerfield. Great game? Sure. One of the best individual efforts ever? Not quite. I think this is a slight case of a player being underrated and far more recognized now that he plays for a big Victorian club. A few years ago he had 30+ touches and kicked 5 goals, but it was barely noticed.

I think one player missing is Kyle Cheney, he had some critical moments in the elimination final and would start before Hartigan for mine. Another important player is Ricky Henderson who, along with Smith, Laird and Jaench make an impressive running backline unit. Once Lever gets to Talia’s defensive level, I think that the backline looks quite strong in a few years with Hartigan and Brown in the wings.
If the Crows are to be successful this year, Don Pyke will have to create team defense and less turnovers to compensate for the current defensive vulnerability. Unfortunately the fixture is a nightmare, but I expect them to be around the mark.
How your AFL team will fare in 2016: Adelaide Crows
They cannot add a like button fast enough 😀
Fremantle kidding themselves over forward line woes
Why thank you Don. just one question, if it is “fine” why hasn’t your team won a premiership yet?
First of all, I didn’t list Ballentyne or Walters as aging, just Pavlich, although I can see your confusion. Any team can get a 3-5 goal contribution from their midfield, that’s football, I didn’t think it was worth mentioning. Finally in reference to the “minuscule scores,” one of my points was that despite their defensive focus, Fremantle still don’t have the best defense. That’s no way to win a flag.
Fremantle kidding themselves over forward line woes
Thanks Mike, a fair point, Lyon is probably more of a good coach over a long period of time.

Kyrgios nearly lost it there … not long now

Bernie Vince and Ivan Maric didn’t choose to leave by themselves. Maric was not the player he is now and didn’t get the opportunities as a result. The crows traded Vince to get pick because they were banned from the draft. We now have Matt Crouch from the Vince trade.
The sweet and sour of the AFL drafts: Adelaide Crows
Against the Western Bulldogs, the defense was not to blame. I watched the game from start to finish and the complete lack of movement up the field made the defense hit up low percentage and high risk passes. This distorted the stats, but I maintain it was only one half of the issue. Although he has been extremely good, Jake Kelly should have made way for Hartigan in the Showdown, but Adelaide should have won nonetheless. The ‘why not throw things around’ comment astounds me though. The club has had a reasonable start and if Jake Lever can hold down a position and Cheeney can punch above his weight (literally) as he always has then the defense won’t be an issue. We know they have a gun midfield and good enough forward line, to be honest their list is in pretty good shape. Plus, on last check of the injury list I could see 6+ best 22’s out.
It’s time for the Crows to change their backline
Absolute howler
