The Australian women’s team has made a great start to the 2015-16 World Women’s Sevens Series, winning the Dubai tournament with a 31-12 victory over Russia in the cup final.
REPORT: AUSTRALIAN WOMEN WIN AT DUBAI
Australia won through to the quarter-finals on the first day to face last year’s champions, New Zealand.
A narrow 15-12 win over the Kiwis proved to be Australia’s most difficult match, as they went on to slam France 26-0 in the semis and then have a comfortable win over Russia in the final.
It’s a great start to the Australian women’s World Series campaign, and an encouraging sign as they prepare to compete at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
