Some of you will call this sour grapes. Fine, that’s your right. Others will wonder, “When will the Kiwis get pinged by the ref?”
Offsides, entering a ruck from the side, not releasing the tackled player, cheap shots, interference at the breakdown… the list continues. It is further compounded by Australia being penalised again and again by referees making wrong calls – forward passes, not releasing the ball when tackled, not releasing the player when tackled, not being recognised as not participating in the tackle when stealing the ball, etc, etc.
And to add insult to injury, they play Crowded House over the PA when they win penalties – I mean, that was a Melbourne-based three-piece with two Australians and one New Zealander! Next thing they’ll launch a MRRT!
I just wonder when that Catherine Wheel will finally turn. Does anyone else?
PS: Full respect to Corey Jane for what he must endure with his family issues – it just shows that some things are actually bigger than the game we all love.
