Guidelines for comments

  • Comments are solely the opinions of the individuals leaving them. In no way does The Roar endorse or condone them.
  • It is standard practice to ask for your name, email address and website URL when submitting a comment. Your name and email are required, but you are free to leave off a website URL.
  • By commenting on The Roar, you agree to our terms and conditions.

We reserve the right to edit, or not publish, comments that do not follow these guidelines.

Rules for comments on The Roar

  • No slanderous or defamatory comments.
  • No abuse or personal arguing. By all means debate the topic at hand, but don’t resort to insulting someone else because you disagree with them.
  • No swearing, profanity or other obscene or vulgar language.
  • No attempting to bypass the profanity filter.
  • No racist or sexist comments, or comments which disparage on the basis of disability.
  • No topic hijacking. Please stay on topic.
  • No code-baiting or comments which are openly hostile towards or otherwise disparaging of another code.
  • No misleading, false or deceptive information, conspiracy theories, or other forms of disinformation.
  • No promotion of (or instructions on how to perform) criminal/illegal activity or drug use.
  • No comments that complain about being on moderation. If you wish to raise an issue regarding moderation, use the ‘contact us’ link above to get in touch.
  • Do not reveal another person’s private information, beyond what they’ve already shared publicly.
  • Comments promoting products, or with irrelevant links to websites, will not be published.
  • Please accept everyone’s right to their own opinion, even if you disagree with other people’s views. Recognise the value in a proper discussion, and refrain from responding in a vindictive manner.
  • Don’t flood the comments section with continued repetition of the same argument or point. By all means, respond to other comments that reply to you and expand upon your argument as the conversation evolves, but excessive commenting of a singular point that no longer adds to or enriches the discussion may see your comments removed and your account placed on moderation.

If these rules are not followed, we reserve the right to:

  • Delete your comment without notice.
  • Place you on moderation for any duration.
  • Ban you from the site permanently, at our sole discretion.

If you read any comments that do not follow these rules, please report the comment and contact us immediately.

If you wish to raise a concern, please do so and we will review and consider removing the offending comment.

Any threat of legal action may result in you receiving a permanent ban from the site and all of your comments being deleted, at our sole discretion.

By commenting on The Roar, you agree to our terms and conditions.
