The world is an amazing place and as Dylan penned in his epic song, ‘The Times R A Changing’, the slow one now will latter be fast. Well, the other night, Japan beat a full strength Argentina side 1 – 0.

How strong is Asia becoming in world football?

I think the Asian leagues are getting better each year. So too are their national sides. Outside the top, say, ten sides in Europe, I think Australia, Japan, and Korea would start as favourites against sides outside the top ten.

The US and Mexico, likewise, are getting stronger, as are African nations.

The Asian Cup approaches and it will be a good test as the football world becomes more interesting each year.
