The Telegraph ran an article on the weekend concerning Musty Amini, arguing that the Mariners had ruined Amini’s chances of playing for a top club in Europe.

To quote, “Central Coast greed has robbed Mustafa Amini of a dream four-year contract with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund, says the player’s management amid fears he may never get another opportunity like this.”

Sounds to me like an agent looking after his own pockets. I hope with all my heart that SBS come out guns blazing to support the club on Monday night.

Past history will indicate I am dreaming, however SBS has preached this for years. Its now time to see if they will back a club they don’t like and the A-League in general. I expect Fozzie to get very angry with the agent – or am I dreaming?

Fairfax and Fox need to come out strongly and support the club as well.

Football needs to respond to articles like this in the mainstream press, and we need the support of the local community, rather than having them view us with suspicion.

The argument that the Mariners should accept a $135,000 fee, and should then be thankful its been lifted to $300,000, is beyond a joke.

We shall see next week the true colours of football’s media, especially at SBS. Will they support a club for insisting on getting a reasonable fee, or ignore it and let more damage be done to football in the eyes of the general public?
