Carlton enters today’s home game against Sydney with a growing belief that it is capable of matching it with the top two teams in the competition. Join us at 2:10pm for a live call of what is likely to be a closely-fought contest.
The only two games Carlton has lost all season have been to those very same top two teams: Geelong and Collingwood. It currently sits in the fourth spot with the Swans exactly one win behind in the fifth.
Carlton can jump Hawthorn in the third spot with a win, the position it came into this round with.
The Blues have some terrific players in form at the moment: Chris Judd is heading for his third Brownlow, Andrew Walker is adding snippets to his personal highlights reel and Betts and Garlett are on to anything that hits the deck in the forward 50.
Kreuzer should be ready to hit some form, now that he has had a run and he’ll be up against Mumford, who returns for the Swans after a bit of a lay-off.
The Swans’ second ruckman, Seaby, had a great game last week. Expect him to spend plenty of time in the forward 50 where he and Goodes will try and put to test, a Carlton backline that has not played all those many games together as a unit.
Swans will work overtime to bottle up the Blues’ mosquito fleet, but Carlton have a bit too much ball-winning capacity and run for mine, and I see them winning a close encounter by two goals.
