Six A-League players are among the 23-man Socceroos squad named on Wednesday for the World Cup qualifier against Oman in Sydney on March 26.

Coach Holger Osieck called on goalkeepers Eugene Galekovic (Adelaide United) and Mat Ryan (Central Coast) plus defenders Mark Milligan (Melbourne Victory), Jade North (Brisbane Roar) and Michael Thwaite (Perth Glory) plus striker Archie Thompson (Melbourne Victory) from the domestic league.

Overseas-based players Tim Cahill, Mile Jedinak, Tommy Oar and Tom Rogic return to the squad for the Stadium Australia match after missing last month’s friendly against Romania.

They join such regulars as goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, midfielders Brett Holman and Mark Bresciano and defender Luke Wilkshire.

Dino Djulbic receives his second call-up after making his senior international debut at the East Asian Cup qualifiers in Hong Kong last December.

The Socceroos will be without regular captain Lucas Neill and Carl Valeri who are both serving one-match suspensions for an accumulation of yellow cards from previous matches in the qualifying tournament.

The Socceroos are in second position in Group B of the final round of the World Cup Asian qualifying tournament after a win against Iraq (2-1), draws against Oman (0-0) and Japan (1-1) and a loss against Jordan (1-2).

Oman are in fourth place in Group B after a win over Jordan (2-1), draws with Australia (0-0) and Iraq (1-1) and two losses to Japan (0-3 & 1-2).
