Here come the pit stops. A review of the first third of the home-and-away season will be completed by Adelaide, Collingwood, Gold Coast, North Melbourne, Richmond and Geelong as they sit this week out.

Teams such as Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Geelong, Collingwood and Gold Coast will be extremely happy going into their pit, while teams like Richmond, Carlton, Essendon and Brisbane will be disappointed.

Will the most expensive AFL forward line come up trumps against the ladder leaders?
Sydney finally have both Kurt Tippett and Lance Franklin joining forces with Adam Goodes, and just in time to combat Buddy Franklin’s old team in Hawthorn in another big Friday night clash at ANZ Stadium.

The large amount of money pooled for both Tippett and Franklin in successive years may finally reap their rewards as Sydney’s two monoliths face the monoliths of the league in the mighty Hawks.

Hawthorn seem to have significantly improved since Buddy left, as the scoring has been more spread between many guns. The Hawks look the goods, but you never know what will happen when three champions of the game in Tippett, Franklin and Goodes team up.

Can Port stay undefeated at their new home?
The Port Adelaide Power are becoming a terrible and titanic force to face at their newly redeveloped home, the Adelaide Oval. After magnificent wins against Adelaide, Brisbane and Geelong, they now face the in-and-out defensive side that is the Fremantle Dockers.

The Dockers will need to pull one out of the hat to overrun the promising talent in Port Adelaide. Watch out Freo.

Will a pumped-up Melbourne stun the Bulldogs?
The Demons have been the most publicised team this week, and it’s not because of tanking or a horrible display last weekend, either.

Last week saw the Demons pull up trumps in a massive win over Adelaide (in Adelaide), but then get a stern clip over the ears from the tribunal as they found youngster Jack Viney guilty of a bump that was unavoidable.

Earth has tilted back onto its proper axis now, with Viney cleared, and Melbourne face their biggest occasion during the home-and-away season bar Queen’s Birthday as they join forces with the Bulldogs to celebrate a night where the MCG will turn pink for breast cancer awareness.

The pumped-up Dees will be looking to score back-to-back wins in what is a must-win for the Bulldogs.

Tips:
Hawthorn v Sydney: Hawthorn by 47 points
Port Adelaide v Fremantle: Port Adelaide by 52 points
Brisbane v Essendon: Essendon by 91 points
Melbourne v Bulldogs: Bulldogs by 19 points
West Coast v GWS: West Coast by 36 points
St. Kilda v Carlton: Carlton by 32 points
