Coach Daryl Gibson has named three players to make their Waratahs debut for the team’s 2016 Super Rugby opener against the Reds on Saturday night.

Inside centre David Horwitz is set to make his first start in the competition, while former All Black Zac Guildford will play on the wing, and ex-Blue Angus Ta’avao gets his first start for the Tahs, at prop.

Two more players may also get their first taste of Super Rugby for the NSW franchise, with NRL convert Reece Robinson and former Rebels playmaker Bryce Hegarty both named on the bench.

As anticipated, Kurtley Beale will play five-eighth in place of the injured Bernard Foley, while Israel Folau’s widely touted move to 13 will not take place yet, with the cross-code superstar named to start at his customary position of fullback.

The game, to be played at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, is the 301st clash between the historic foes, and will kick off at 7:40pm.

We’ll have all the action live on The Roar.
