NRL Round 8 judiciary: Rabbitoh lucky to get light ban for 'foolish, irresponsible' cannonball tackle, Sloan charged twice

Rookie playmaker Cody Walker is set to steer South Sydney through the next few rounds of the NRL after Adam Reynolds suffered a jaw injury in Sunday’s crushing 42-10 win over Sydney Roosters.
Injuries to Reynolds and John Sutton (pectoral) soured the Rabbitohs impressive first-up effort in brushing aside their arch-rivals at Allianz Stadium.
Five-eighth Walker looked comfortable on his NRL debut laying on an early try and combining well with Reynolds.
Luke Keary, who missed the game through suspension, will come in for Reynolds when Souths host Newcastle on Saturday night.
Coach Michael Maguire was impressed with Walker’s debut.
“He was good Cody and with the changes on the field, he just adapted,” Maguire said.
“It is just the practise he has shown throughout the season and it has shown on the field.”
The result of scans on Reynolds and Sutton could be known as early as Monday.
Early indications were Reynolds could miss anywhere between six weeks and four months, while Sutton could be out for between four and five months.
The injuries came in Sam Burgess’ return game and the dual international said Souths will just have to cope.
“It is part and parcel of the game as sad as it is that is why depth in squads is very important,” he said.
“It gives other people a chance to come in and I’m sure they will do the job.”
