Jarryd Hayne will reportedly sign a two-year NRL deal with the Gold Coast.

The Titans announced early Wednesday morning they would make a major club announcement at 10.30am, and there is the possibility Hayne could play as soon as this weekend given he has not been registered with another club this season. The Roar understands the Titans are bullish about the chances of getting their new recruit to play this year.

Hayne has not played in the NRL since he left Parramatta to try his hand at the NFL at the end of 2014.

However he is set to return with league’s youngest club, according to the Nine Network.

“It’s confirmed, Jarryd Hayne will be running out in a Titans jersey next year,” Titans ambassador Gorden Tallis told Triple M.

The former Brisbane and Queensland enforcer labelled the signing the biggest since Wally Lewis joined the doomed Seagulls franchise in 1991.

“We missed out on (Daly) Cherry Evans and we got someone like Ash Taylor and Kane Elgey and Tyrone Robert is doing a fantastic job,” Tallis said.

“Jarryd Hayne’s that x-factor that gets the job done for you.”

The reports come after Fairfax Media suggested the Titans were willing to offer the former representative star a deal worth $1.2 million a season with third-party components included.

That offer would trump one Parramatta were believed to have been preparing, which weighed in at $800,000 a season over three years.

The signing would be a major coup for the Gold Coast, who still have significant salary cap space left after missing out last year on luring halfback Cherry-Evans when he walked out on a lucrative deal.

Any plans for Hayne to play this season may require the clearance of the NRL, following his time at Parramatta during the club’s salary cap scandal.

The club will announce the signing at a press conference at 10:30am AEST this morning.
