Joey reveals the importance of tough training regimes at NRL clubs in light of Topine lawsuit

Last I checked rugby league is a team sport. While the individual brilliance of the best rugby league players are highlighted weekly within the rugby league community, the introduction of a camera to focus on an individual player is jumping the shark when it comes to rugby league.
The focus on one player within a team can be over-bearing to supporters of that team, look at my team the North Queensland Cowboys. With a record amount of players playing for State of Origin this year the focus tends to be about Johnathan Thurston.
To the point it which the team is seen as one player team discrediting the likes of Matt Scott, Michael Morgan, Jason Taumalolo and the rest of the squad.
The arrival of Jarryd Hayne to the Gold Coast Titans has seen a degree of hype never experienced before for the franchise. However the core focus should remain on the team and not one person.
As the cliche goes there is no I in team. The introduction of Hayne to the Titans shouldn’t undo the work the Titans have done to this point, going from a rabble to fighting for a potential top eight spot.
I’m happy to see the Titans on the upswing after a bad couple of years. The arrival of Hayne should see the Titans get better, providing Hayne return to this best. At the same time, the focus shouldn’t be around one person. There should be focus on the entire team from the star players to the bench players.
Dedicating a camera to one person is discrediting the entire team and rugby league is a team sport.
