With the idea of Pride Round causing division in the NRL, the counter offer is Respect Round where the idea is to simply respect everyone’s views.
I’ll give a few examples about me. I go to the gym, I’m straight, I work in retail, I’m Catholic, I have tattoos, I love wrestling, I go for the Knights and my all-time favourite band is Genesis.
I know people who don’t go to the gym, people who are other sexualities, support other teams or even don’t watch the game, don’t watch wrestling, work in other professions, different religions or even atheist, don’t have ink and whose favourite band isn’t Genesis nor do they even like them.
Do I care? No. Does it upset me? Not in the slightest. Have I forced them to see things how I do? No chance in Hell.
Do I believe they have the right to see differently? Absolutely. Did I need a football round for me to realise I should respect other people’s ways of life? No freaking way. Do I think there should be a respect round? Not a freaking chance!

When I saw the idea of the name, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It’s like the NRL thinks we’re all a bunch of children who don’t know any better. I live my way and everyone else lives theirs. Instead of us needing a football round to respect everyone’s opinions, it’s just a simple matter of common sense.
What I believe the NRL needs to do is just stick to letting us fans focus on what we want with the NRL and that’s football. No worrying about the endless names of rounds. We have a few which have good causes but the idea of a round dedicated to respecting everyone’s views is atrocious. I watch the game with absolute passion and I love it to death.
What I believe is needed is just a matter of everyone should focus on themselves. Focus on accomplishing things you want to do with your life. You have a dream job you want? Go for it.
You have places you want to travel to? Work, pay for your bills and food, save up and travel. I guarantee that you don’t need me or anyone else to approve of what you want. It’s your life, you live it how you want and let others live their lives. You didn’t need a football round to know any of this, it’s all simple logic.
This article of course won’t determine whether or not a Respect Round will happen. The idea behind it is simply live and let live.
I live my life and everyone else live their lives. If anyone, most people who are reading this didn’t even need this article to know anything I mentioned.
