Canterbury have scratched Josh Addo-Carr ahead of their trip to Cronulla after he failed to recover from the shoulder injury he sustained against Parramatta.

Connor Tracey, who was named on the wing with the Foxx in the extended bench, will make a club debut.

The superstar winger left the Dogs’ defeat to the Eels at half time with a suspected AC joint injury, though that was later downgraded and he was given every chance to recover, but was unable to do so.

Powerful young prop Tuku Hau Tapuha will become Shark #558 on Friday after being called into the team to face the Bulldogs. Hau Tapuha will replace Royce Hunt (virus) on the bench at Shark Park.

Benji Marshall has made his first big call as head coach at the Wests Tigers, handing a debut to 18-year-old Lachlan Galvin at five eighth for his side’s season opener away to Canberra.

He beats out veteran Aiden Sezer, who arrived from Leeds in the off-season and was widely expected to start at halfback. Another newbie, Jayden Sullivan, gets the 7 jumper.

It’s a massive vote of confidence in the prodigal teenager, who is named in front of the more seasoned Sezer, who is managing a hamstring niggle.

Canberra get centre Seb Kris back from suspension, pushing Albert Hopoate to a wing and Nick Cotric out of the team altogether. Jordan Rapana continues at fullback.

The Dolphins have also swung the axe following their humbling at the hands of the Cowboys, with Sean O’Sullivan and Tesi Niu ditched after just one game in favour of Isaiya Katoa and former Bulldog Jake Averillo.

Wayne Bennett has also promoted utility Kurt Donoghoe to the bench in place of veteran Kenny Bromwich, who will revert to 18th man.

Cameron Munster (groin) and Nelson Asofa-Solomona (hamstring) did not make the cut and will not feature, but Eels half Mitch Moses is confident of playing despite his groin strain and will start in the Battle of the West on Friday night at Bluebet Stadium. Penrith welcome back Mitch Kenny from suspension for that game.

Sydney Roosters welcome back prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves from suspension. He will take the place of Spencer Leniu, who begins an eight-game ban for his racial vilification of Brisbane’s Ezra Mam.

England winger Dominic Young has been cleared for his competitive debut for the Roosters after a neck injury in trials.

The Roosters will face a Manly side with Tommy Talau on a wing in place of Jason Saab, who’s set to miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

South Sydney have turned to Tallis Duncan in the back row for Thursday night’s clash with Brisbane, with Jai Arrow out with a shoulder injury. The Rabbitohs have added Shaquai Mitchell to their bench in place of Jacob Host.

Brisbane skipper Adam Reynolds will play against his former club at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night after recovering from a knee injury. Second-rower Brendan Piakura (concussion) is going through NRL protocols to be available and trained alongside Reynolds on Monday.
