Jack Hetherington has been slapped with a one match ban for his post-match carry on with Bulldogs hooker Reed Mahoney.
The Newcastle forward was binned late in their defeat to Canterbury for an altercation with Mahoney and continued the dispute into the sheds, where the pair had to be seperated.
The incident was captured by the cameras, resulting in a charge from the NRL on Monday morning.
Wests Tigers halfback Aidan Sezer is facing a ban for a late challenge on Panthers opposite number Brad Schneider.
Sezer has been charged by the match review committee for dangerous contact after clipping Scheider’s leg after he put in a downfield kick at Bathurst on Saturday.
It was similar to the incident the previous round which led to a one-game ban for Manly’s Josh Aloiai for late contact on Shaun Johnson which sent the game against the Warriors into extra time.
Sezer will be out for two matches if he chooses to contest the charge at the judiciary and is unsuccessful. He can pay a $3000 fine with an early guilty plea, as it his third offence.
Titans prop Jaimin Jolliffe has been cited for the second time in two weeks and faces a $1800 fine with an early guilty plea or $2500 if he unsuccessfully challenges the dangerous contact charge at the judiciary for a low tackle at the back of the legs of Manly forward Taniela Paseka when he was already being held up by two defenders.
James Tedesco will be free for the next game of the Sydney Roosters’ inconsistent NRL campaign after escaping suspension for tripping Ryan Papenhuyzen.
The Roosters captain went on report for the uncharacteristic shot on his rival fullback in the 70th minute of Melbourne’s 18-12 win on Thursday night
Chasing a Roosters kick, Tedesco flew in to tackle Papenhuyzen but his left leg connected with the right foot of the Storm star and knocked him to the ground.
Papenhuyzen was irate with the contact and appeared to appeal for a sin-binning, but referee Ashley Klein permitted Tedesco to stay afield.
On Friday morning, the match review committee charged Tedesco with grade-one dangerous contact (tripping) and offered the 31-year-old a $750 fine with an early guilty plea.
That sum would have been $250 higher if not for Tedesco’s clean judiciary record.
Tedesco risks having to pay $1000 by pleading his case at the judiciary, but either way he will be free for the Roosters’ traditional Anzac Day clash against St George Illawarra next Thursday.
The Roosters’ loss at Allianz Stadium means they will finish the weekend outside of the top eight.
Trent Robinson’s side is yet to string back-to-back wins together across the opening seven rounds, despite again entering as one of the competition’s heavyweights.
Tedesco’s teammate Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has also escaped suspension for his late hit on rival prop Christian Welch and can accept a $1800 fine.
For the second straight week, Eels forward Bryce Cartwright has been charged and will cop a heftier fine this time around.
Cartwright was pinged for dangerous contact on Dolphins forward Mark Nicholls early in Friday night’s loss in Darwin and is facing a punishment of $1800-$2500. He was fined $750 for the same offence last week.
