The Perth Scorchers return to Optus Stadium on Saturday night, looking for another win against the Brisbane Heat. Join The Roar for all the action with live scores and a blog of the match from 9:10pm (AEDT).
In Geelong on Tuesday, the Scorchers had a good win against struggling reigning champions in the Melbourne Renegades.
While the Renegades would have felt good about a 170+ total on the board, however Perth openers Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone blew that aside, helping secure an away victory for the Scorchers.
After a win against Hobart at the Gabba, the Heat will be looking to get one on the road. Brisbane hosted the Hurricanes on Thursday evening, Ben Cutting securing the win for the home side with a 43-run cameo.
Pace bowlers Josh Lalor and Ben Laughlin combined for five wickets, and after the Heat top order batsmen only played brief roles, Cutting hit the winning runs.
Both squads have made a single change this evening. The final line-ups will be announced at the bat flip.
Ashton Agar leaves the Scorchers for national duties with the Australian ODI team. Liam Guthrie has been named as his replacement.
James Pattinson returns to the Brisbane Heat squad after his role in the Australian Test team’s resounding defeat of New Zealand. Mark Steketee has been dropped.
These two teams last met on New Year’s Day at Metricon Stadium. Perth were the better team on the night, defeating Brisbane by 40 runs.
The Scorchers put 149 runs on the board, including a half-century off the bat of Cameron Bancroft. It was a match to forget for the Heat, bowled out for 109 in the penultimate over.
Prediction
For their ‘disco night’ BBL match, the Scorchers fans will hope their team has the moves to beat the Heat.
However, Brisbane was in good touch the other night at the Gabba and its batting stars didn’t even fire. If the likes of Max Bryant, Chris Lynn and Joe Burns can put runs on the board, the Heat should continue their move up the ladder.
Heat to win.
