After two years in the wilderness, the NRL Nines finally gets back underway for 2020. Running from February 14 to February 15, this is The Roar’s ultimate guide to live streaming the NRL Nines, or watching the event on TV.
The NRL Nines started a couple of years ago, but was eventually scrubbed off the NRL’s preseason calendar over player fatigue concerns. Now, it’s back and will be played at Perth’s HBF Park.
All 16 NRL sides and four NRLW sides are bringing squads to the event. Most sides have brought a mix of NRL-experienced players and rookies, although some clubs have brought some players out of retirement and others are trialling new coaches. If you’re interested in who’s playing at the NRL sides, check out all the squads here.
You’ll have just the one option if you want to watch the NRL Nines on TV – Fox Sports.
They’ll have every game of the NRL Nines live through their speciality NRL channel, Fox League (502). Their coverage will be free of ad breaks during play, and will commence with pre-game coverage from 6:30pm (AEDT) on Friday and 1pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
To watch Fox League, you’ll need a valid Foxtel TV subscription, with the sports package included.
If live streaming’s more your thing, you’ll have a couple of different options.
The most comprehensive sports streaming option is Kayo Sports, which lets you stream all of Fox Sports’ content (with a very small handful of exceptions) for $25 a month. Kayo will let you stream every NRL game of the season, excluding State of Origin and the grand final.
If you haven’t used the service before, you may be eligible for a free trial.
Alternatively, if you already have Foxtel but just won’t be in front of your TV set when the Nines are on, you can use the Foxtel GO app to access your Foxtel subscribed content on a mobile device.
The other option is to use the NRL live pass which, if you’re a Telstra mobile customer, you may be eligible to access for free.
