It’s a blockbuster Sunday afternoon match, as the Carlton Blues and ladder leaders Port Adelaide clash at the Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:05pm (AEST).

Carlton’s perennially disappointed fans are watching their side produce a nice run of form this season, with the Blues beginning the round inside the top eight for the first time since 2013. Last Sunday’s win over the Bulldogs was perhaps the team’s best in recent years.

Today’s clash remains a tricky encounter – Carlton haven’t beaten their South Australian opponents since 2016.

Port Adelaide, barring a loss against Brisbane a fortnight ago, have been excellent, with that loss remaining their only defeat of the season. They have not, however, defeated a top-eight side in 2020. That makes this clash an important one for Ken Hinkley and his men in their hunt for a position in the top four.

Neither side has a positive win-loss ledger at the Gabba. The Blues are narrowly ahead in total wins at the venue; a caveat being that Port have drawn clashes at the venue twice.

Port will not have the services of either Brad Ebert or Cam Sutcliffe, who are out with suspension and injury respectively. Former Lion Sam Mayes – who is confirmed to make a Power debut – is among several inclusions.

Carlton are potentially handing debuts to former Tiger Callum Moore and draftee Matthew Cotrell, who are among several potential inclusions.
