Round 8 concludes with Carlton aiming to keep their winning form going when they host Adelaide on Mother’s Day. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:40pm (AEST).
Things are going swimmingly for the Blues under new coach Michael Voss, with a 5-2 record leaving them on track for a first finals appearance since 2013.
Last week’s thrashing of North Melbourne was set up by bags of four and three goals respectively from key forwards Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow. With the Crows’ defence having leaked goals to GWS last week, the pair will be crucial to the Blues’ victory chances this week.
The Crows looked to be headed upwards following consecutive wins over Richmond and the Western Bulldogs, but a huge loss to the Giants was a major reality check that they still have some way to go.
With Matthew Nicks unavailable due to COVID and both captain and deputy Rory Sloane and Brodie Smith sidelined with injury, the Crows have a new duo at the helm this week. Assistant coach Scott Burns steps into the hot seat looking to continue the excellent run caretakers have had thus far in 2022, while brave defender Tom Doedee becomes the Crows’ third skipper of the season.
