'I'm not bitter': 'Disappointed' Brad Arthur opens up on Eels sacking in incredibly classy interview
Parramatta decided to move on from Brad Arthur - with the 11-year coach opening up on the whole process on NRL 360.
The new Parramatta Eels board consisting of legends Brett Kenny, Ray Price and Eric Grothe Snr should install glory back to the besieged club.
Sure, they may not have experience on the board, but who cares?
These guys are what Parramatta are all about – pride and passion.
These former legends of the game gave out their blood, sweat and tears for the Eels in every match they played in the blue and gold.
Ever since they graced the football field, the likes of Kenny, Grothe and Price put their bodies on the line for Parramatta, without the lucrative contracts that conspire in today’s game.
What they did on the field was all based on love. Love for the Parramatta club, its people and for what it stands for.
Indeed their election into the Eels board will do wonders for a Parramatta side who have not won a premiership in ages, their last being when these great men ran around in their jerseys playing footy.
But history could be about to change for the better down Parramatta way.
With Kenny, Grothe and Price all controlling the most important Eels bandwagon, Parramatta are finally being run by people who truly deserve the honour.
The likes of Kenny, Price and Grothe have led the Parramatta club through its ups and downs with distinction, and it is only fitting they have the opportunity to lead the club back to its glory days.
Its the way it should have been before his happened, but thankfully for the Eels, the moment has finally arrived.
Passion will once again rear its head for the Eels in their 2009 premiership campaign and Kenny, Grothe and Price will once again be leading, albeit from the stands, but leading nonetheless.
