So the catch-cry for tourism in Queensland was always “Beautiful one day, perfect the next”.
It’s true, Queensland is a beautiful state, but when it comes to Origin season, my view on the ‘Sunny State’ changes a little.
In fact, my attitude towards those banana benders is positively stormy.

This is not due to the sandy beaches or the sunshine, the reefs or the rainforests. It is due to Queensland’s inhabitants – the Maroons supporters.
During representative season, the slogan should be “Tolerable one day, insufferable the next”.
So to that point, here is a list of some of things which I like more than a Queenslander at Origin time.

• Smart cars
• People who have mobile phone conversations in elevators
• Shopping centre car parks
• Nickelback
• Nickelback cover bands
• Men wearing Nickelback T-Shirts
• Alcohol free zones
• The fact 20 cent pieces weight so much more than a $2 coin
• Political debates in cafes
• The last season of Scrubs
• Cat videos
• Potholes
• Airports
• When people use the term ‘literally’ in the wrong context
I’d now like to invite New South Welshmen to add to the list of things they like more that Queenslanders at Origin time.
I’m imagining that it will be a long list…
