The 2015-16 EPL season has seen an extremely positive start for Liverpool. The Reds sit in third place after garnering seven points from three fixtures and are yet to concede a goal.

This week they will receive a visit from Slaven Bilic’s West Ham. The Hammers have been patchy in the opening rounds – following an upset victory at the Emirates they have crashed to subsequent defeats to Leicester City and EPL new boys Bournemouth.

Liverpool have a marvellous record in this fixture, having not lost to West Ham at Anfield in their last seven meetings. They stand as firm favourites to extend that statistic by one on Saturday night, the bookies placing the Reds at a measly $1.36 while the Hammers are at a distant and very backable $8.

Last season, this fixture was taken out by Liverpool in a 2-0 scoreline with goals to Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge. Unfortunately for the Reds, neither scorer will line up for them this time around. The players to watch going forward will undoubtedly be the likes of beastly striker Christian Benteke and Brazilian midfield duo Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino – expect the former to test West Ham’s centre-halves.

For the Hammers, Diafra Sakho will be the target up front in the absence of Mauro Zarate and following the sale of Modibo Maiga to Al-Nasser. Dmitri Payet will deliver service from midfield along with Cheikhou Kouyate and Mark Noble. The Hammers midfield forms as a dangerous unit, one which Brendan Rodgers will be well and truly weary of.

In player news, the Reds remain without long-term injured trio Sturridge (hip), Joe Allen (hamstring) and Jon Flanagan (knee), while Jordan Henderson (foot) and Adam Lallana (knock) are both doubtful to take their place on Saturday evening.

Their opponents boast a remarkably large injury list for so early in the season with five players unavailable through injury. Strikers Andy Carroll (knee), Zarate (knee) and Enner Valencia (hamstring) are joined in the casualty ward by Joey O’Brien and Reece Oxford (both knocks). West Ham will also be without Carl Jenkinson and Adrian who remain suspended following red card offences.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-0 West Ham
