Former Adelaide captain Rory Sloane has been forced into immediate retirement by the threat of further eye damage. Sloane, 34, had a second bout…
Carlton captain Marc Murphy has been ruled out for up to a month with a foot injury, in a further blow to the struggling AFL club.
Blues head of football Andrew McKay said scans on Friday showed a further tear of the fascia in Murphy’s foot.
“Clearly this is a disappointing outcome for Marc and the club.” McKay said.
“There was swelling in the area and as such, we had to let it settle before we could assess it properly. Scans last night have revealed the tear in the fascia and the surrounding scar tissue.
“He will ease back into the training program and we expect him to be available in three to four weeks.”
Carlton remains anchored to the bottom of the AFL ladder, with only one win from nine matches.
