England will continue their World Cup campaign on Monday at Trent Bridge against the struggling Pakistan. Join The Roar for all the action, with live scores and a blog of the match from 7:30pm (AEST).
England opened their home World Cup tournament with a win against South Africa. It was a massive 104-run victory, England bowling out South Africa with 10.1 overs to spare.
After losing Jonny Bairstow on the second ball of the tournament, Jason Roy, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan all went on to make half-centuries, while Ben Stokes put on 89 runs, before Jofra Archer took three wickets, while Liam Plunkett and Ben also pitched in with two wickets each.
Pakistan suffered an embarrassing defeat, dismantled by the West Indies in just 21.4 overs. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam top scored with 22 runs each, as Pakistan were bowled out for just 105 runs.
It took the West Indies just 13.4 overs to make the small target, Mohammad Amir the only bowler to slow down the chase, taking three wickets.
In their most recent ODI series, just prior to the World Cup, England beat Pakistan 4-0 and the fifth game was washed out.
The scores in that series were all around the 350 mark and Pakistan did well against the superior England outfit. However, with business now serious in the World Cup, this fixture is shaping to be a more one-sided contest.
Monday in Nottingham is looking mostly cloudy, with a very small chance of any rain. A cool 18 degrees is expected.
Prediction
Pakistan should be fired up after their shocking opening game against the West Indies. Fans will be hoping England bat first though, otherwise, this one might be over early.
England to win.
