Show Preview

Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli brings up his 200th game as they take on Hawthorn at Marvel Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:35pm (AEST).

Arguably the Bulldogs’ greatest ever player already, Bontempelli’s first 199 games have brought with them a premiership, four best and fairests, four All-Australian selections, an AFL Coaches Association MVP and a Leigh Matthews Trophy, along with many other smaller accolades.

In career-best form to start 2023, the Bulldogs are 3-3 and fighting for finals largely due to his brilliance. Not even the loss of Tom Liberatore to concussion should prevent another starring role for the milestone man, with another star in Bailey Smith back from a calf injury to bolster the midfield.

For the Hawks, a pair of excellent performances in recent weeks have ended in heartbreak, losing thrillers to GWS and Adelaide and being sunk by winning goals in both games.

With spearhead Mitch Lewis back from a knee injury for his first game of the season, and young gun Will Day also returning from suspension, the Hawks will head in confident they can spoil the Bont’s party.
