Don is probably a back and got 1 and 3 mixed up. Bet he has nice hair tho.

CONFIRMED: Eddie blames RA for early exit as Woodward calls for Rennie apology, ex-ABs coach linked to role

I wrote here on 17 September France his resignation was hooking Carter Gordon after 50. Looks like the excuse from him is that RA wasn’t up to the change agenda he had set them. He is going to remain of the view that his vision was perfect but the execution by others pissed him off. The chair completely failed to execute normal corporate governance over him and as such must be considered to have failed in his duties too.

Eddie Jones quits as Wallabies coach - 'Sometimes you have to eat s--t for others to eat caviar'

You clearly weren’t in Paris in September, by god it was hot. Weather is fickle whenever it is played.

'It will kill rugby': Minnows feel shafted as World Rugby hails 'historic' revamp with exclusive Nations Championship

Some very interesting ideas here. Oddly the European crowds don’t seem to be put off and changing the rules so the ARU get a crowd won’t be happening. Which is a shame. Come on the cuzzy bros.

Rugby’s descent into cynical play: Why neutral fans should back the All Blacks for the good of the game

An executive chair that appoints a CEO (in this case coach, so let’s call him CCO) and then fails to ensure the CCO has governance is bad. A CCO who does not appear to tolerate dissent is also problematic. A CCO who has no need to take counsel on selection as any disagreement is couched as disloyalty or similarly dismissed is also problematic.

The reason Hamish needs to go is not for hiring the CCO but for failing to provide basic governance which means he has hitched his wagon to the CCO’s who just appears to have driven it over the cliff.

Good, the bad, the Eddie: Rats and possums, Hoops 'like the ex being MC at your wedding' and an orgy of apologies

Yeah but when you hook the bloke holding the basket you put all your eggs in you can’t serve anyone an omelette anymore.

'Eddie got found out': Jones in spotlight as 'ferocious' Fiji leave Wallabies RWC hopes hanging by thread in 69 year first

Looks like Eddie submitted his resignation after 50 mins when he hooked Gordon.

You put the bait out Wizz but no one bit…

Kerevi vs Semi: Can Eddie afford to go into crunch Fijian RWC clash with underdone Wallabies star

Calling the RWC after the sauna that was France this weekend is “brave”.

The Wrap: Tupou coup looks more profound by the day, Christie vitriol out of order, Argies and Scots a shambles

You cannot underestimate how f-word hot it has been. Form next week will be different for all teams.

The Wrap: Tupou coup looks more profound by the day, Christie vitriol out of order, Argies and Scots a shambles

What about the overthrown lineout to a fast running centre who could not have been 10m back when the ball crosses the 15m-in hash?

The Wrap: Tupou coup looks more profound by the day, Christie vitriol out of order, Argies and Scots a shambles

You really can’t underestimate how hot it was tonight. The weak second half from NZ can only have some due from the weather, for me it was a pretty terrible kicking game mainly from BB and an unfathomable tactic of trying to contest high balls where the success rate was so bad the French were relishing a chance to respond. The ABs played better rugby than the hosts in the first half but didnt play much at all in the second. But geez it was hot.

Allez, Allez! All Blacks suffer first RWC pool loss as France make huge statement, Fozzie remains upbeat

If they’re at Sonny Bill’s they won’t be getting wine..

Wallabies set to lose Kerevi for World Cup opener, Petaia backs young gun for debut

My RWC rule since 2007 has been travel for pool games only. The sadness in Marseille was indescribable. Bumping into EJ and Jake White after the game was also a bed of roses. At least when my tour finishes on Sep 25 I am a better than even money bet to have seen the Wobblies win a game.

What a wuss. Put your money where your mouth is.

'Devastating': Fiji rocked by tournament ending injury to fly-half days out from World Cup opener

Echoing others, I was delighted to see the Spiro Zavos byline today. I am pretty excited to have a ticket to France NZ on Friday night along with 50 or so Aussie rugby tourists so obviously Les Marseillaise will be slightly diluted. Australia Georgia the next night had better come good for the Southern Hemisphere!

Some Roarers have arced up about your spirit of the game comment, but clearly pre professionalism the game was one for all sizes and attrition was a part of the charm. Taking exhaustion out of consideration pushes the “bigger” barrow further. The Times in the UK did a great comparison of size, breakdowns and so forth over the last 36 years. While the size change was most clear, the corollary of nearly half as many offloads is maybe a sad thing. The spirit of the old game is clearly not the spirit of the new.

Perhaps the bench should be reduced with 7 available spots but three must be front rowers. Having to keep at least three forwards on for 80 minutes with a 5/2 split or 2 for the brave 6/1 might be more fun?

SPIRO ZAVOS: The best team in the tournament, not necessarily the best team, will win the 2023 RWC

Brain snaps, mediocre, brain snaps, brain snaps.

Exclusive: Quade, Hooper to miss World Cup selection as Jorgensen rockets into squad

Who would keep Jorgensen out of a Waratahs team if he is not a certain starter?

Exclusive: Quade, Hooper to miss World Cup selection as Jorgensen rockets into squad

Err, no. He was poor. Looks gorgeous when it doesn’t matter and the picture of Dorian Grey comes out when it does. In test rugby it matters many times in a game.

'Gutted': Cheika's Pumas steal dramatic win to confirm Eddie's worst Wallabies fears

That seems a very generous take. Maybe he has a headset supply contract and was proving he can slam them on the desk while pretending not to care deeply and not smash them. Hopefully your kiddies couldn’t lip read the rude words he shouted while testing the said headset.

'Gutted': Cheika's Pumas steal dramatic win to confirm Eddie's worst Wallabies fears

Respectfully all the comments so far have missed the key issue here which is an emotional not structural one. “Playing for Australia is all I want. You see it on the TV, you see these guys and I’ve always said, ‘Man, I wish one day I could be a Wallaby.” “What do you wanna be? A walla wallaby” actually had resonance 20 years ago. I hope Miles is a roaring success for the Tahs, but his attitude has already made him a favourite for me.

Exclusive: 'I won't wear another jersey' - 'Mini Will Skelton' reveals why he's returning to Australian rugby

Geoff I am at a loss as to why the chiefs didn’t set for a drop goal centre field 20 out wind at their back 10 to go and only 5 ahead. Australian and NZ teams have naively thrown the field goal into the bin and would rather hope for a tackler not rolling than execute a dynamic and skilful piece of smart strategy. This was not World Cup winning smarts.

The Wrap: Epic Super Rugby Final delivers a double win for the All Blacks

Donno plays closely to coach’s instructions, EJ would love that.

Donaldson in as EIGHT uncapped players picked: Co-captains named for Wallabies as Eddie's first squad revealed

I am a tragic Waratahs fan, the only reason I can see Donaldson got up is that the plays exclusively to coaches instructions, has little natural intuition, i.e. Eddie can lead him around by the nose.

Only been over the ditch a few times watching rugby. Have yet to find a crowd I didn’t think were Hal arsehole. The pinnacle was the cake tin crowd throwing stubbies (some not empty!) at a world sevens flag parade by all teams. Rugby there is a religion played like a Crusade. The opposition are sub human and the comparison the the beautiful Irish crowds is stark. Of course they are worse in Cape Town though….
