My take is it’s already a clear penalty when a ball carrier runs behind one of their own players, it should be just as clearly a penalty for other players to run in front of the ball carrier. And if the kicker positions himself behind teammates who are loitering in the way that should also be a black and white penalty (especially if they are packed tightly together). The team trying to charge down the kick should not be impeded in any way. If you want more time, have the kicker move further back from the markers.

Fair comment not coming from unfair commentators whining about rules they should know off by heart

I disagree. Cowboys defended well – sure they let some points through but that’s what happens when the other team spends that long on your try line. The cowboys problems early game were around dropping the ball, failing to find touch, forward passes, etc etc. Later on they got that under control but were heavily fatigued.

'I wouldn't say we deserved to win': Payten left wondering as Chad burgles Cowboys victory over Knights

Why? Why can’t the bunker review forward passes particularly when a try is scored?

'The forward pass was so wrong it wasn’t funny': Did a refereeing 'howler' cost the Warriors?

Gamble immediately lost interest the moment he realised Whiton wasn’t going to be sent off giving the Knights an advantage in a must win game of footy. That counts against him for me – it has the smell of a player milking a penalty. As for the two “contradictory statements” – if you jam your arm into someone’s mouth, that is not a bite. Also what was his arm doing there anyway? You’re not supposed to make contact above the shoulders and if you do so accidentally you’re meant to pull out of it immediately – not wait for the ref to call the tackle complete and then stop the game insisting they fouled you. Yes – Wighton’s teeth touched Gamble’s arm. Nobody is debating that. It’s clear as day visible in the replays. That doesn’t make it a bite. In my opinion a bite means two rows of teeth, and the ref testified that there was only one row.

Wighton should have been hit for six over Knight bite - and given an extra match for arrogant sledge at heated hearing

> When the Cowboys made the Prelim last year, nobody said that they should shift the game to a bigger stadium.

That’s because if they moved it to a bigger stadium it would’ve been empty.

Sharks have big stadiums in their home city. That’s the difference.

It’s annoying that 25,000 fans will be locked out of Shark Park this weekend - but home advantage matters more
