“Sydney just don’t feel the same, this might shock Melbourians, but we already have our local sports”

local sports? NRL?

Should football help the AFL in Western Sydney, and how?

as i said last week, David Villa and Damien Duff in team, i no wins (this is not a Melb City out down)

Villa keen to farewell A-League a winner

“Gillon McLachan and the executives at AFL’s Melbourne headquarters need to re-think their strategy for the Giants. First they need to apologise for Kevin Sheedy’s ‘immigration department’ quote on why the Wanderers were achieving success”

Another Sydney (is good) – Melbourne (is bad) post

Should football help the AFL in Western Sydney, and how?

please ….you cant use one Man Utd game as your arguments

I don’t think AFL will every be bigger then Soccer in Sydney , nor do i think Rugby League will ever be bigger then soccer in Melbourne, this is advantage soccer has over both NRL and AFL, soccer support can be even across the country

This whole post is a Sydney vs Melbourne thing..NRL vs AFL…the success of WSW would equally ( or greater) effect NRL in Western Sydney

Also, WSW has had unbelievable onfield success from day one, GWS Giants have come last in 1st 2 years , this alone make a big difference

Irony not lost as AFL begs western Sydney football fans for a leg-up

Brisbane Lions (AFL) 2013 home ave 21,083, Members 24,130… been home ave 20k last 20 years

ciudadmarron
it about tv deal…Soccer had most kids playing for years, bit that didn’t matter one bit

Irony not lost as AFL begs western Sydney football fans for a leg-up

both Sydney and Brisbane started very poor in AFL to …GWS Giants also come last, , lets see whats happens when they make finals

Irony not lost as AFL begs western Sydney football fans for a leg-up

i don’t see how Russia going to be able to hold the world cup…they can’t get bank loan from Western world…and oil (as of today) is at $80 USD

Lowy flags multi-tier, expanded A-League

“Attendances ain’t the only criteria to becoming the biggest.”

there a clear and strong correlation between average game attendance and TV deals

” but they are far from the biggest football competition in the world”

the NFL is the biggest football competition (league) in the world…

Lowy flags multi-tier, expanded A-League

Fussball, you are wrong, people assumed those in charge are clueless all over the world 🙂 🙂

but your right…people talk of there plain for A-league and talk about where the next team should be , base on no knowledgeable facts

Lowy flags multi-tier, expanded A-League

i think , there will be no promotion and relegation in next 20 years

1st , a 2nd pro league will need to be set up

2nd, they put a rule in that says “eligible for promotion to the A League , provided the team had met certain criteria.

Frank has to say there will be promotion and relegation, because that what AFC wants …the AFC Competitions Committee penalize Australia for not having a 2nd league…what we get, a new 2nd league 🙂

Lowy flags multi-tier, expanded A-League

nordster

it still make AZ_RBB link true 🙂

who woundn’t want to be in Melbourne at Spring racing time of year

"I don't know if he's totally happy" - Aloisi queries Villa's departure

the loan is not a normal loan deal…he is own by the same owns

it not even close to Liverpool calling Brad Smith back from Swindon

all this about being away from Home…New York is not he home, it speak the same language as Melbourne ..

"I don't know if he's totally happy" - Aloisi queries Villa's departure

yes..it can be hard away from Home…but 2 weeks?? 2 weeks is stii adventure stage ….the talk started before last week anyway

"I don't know if he's totally happy" - Aloisi queries Villa's departure

Protecting clubs from themselves, is the best way forward, on till such a time you have convince society that “Tough love” is a better way….

So, we in agreement then , salary cap in A-league is best way forward 🙂

Inequality or mediocrity: Football's dilemma

attendances aren’t the whole story, but they are , along with TV deal….and to get average attendance as high as France and Italy, would be major indicator where the league is now, and in future

i be happy to swap my euro wage each month for double in Aud 🙂

Scrap the salary cap, expand and reward success

no team in MLS has over 100 million in revenue each year, if you have those stats please can you post them here, as i see 50 million tops …maybe you thinking of value to buy team?

in 10-15 year time , Australia economy will be bigger then Italy, and maybe same size as UK and France ..this changes the way

Scrap the salary cap, expand and reward success

C

this is the point , when football league do try to run as financially independent, they go broke , and demand authorities to bail the league out under cultural grounds

Scrap the salary cap, expand and reward success

Sorry George, who are you? and why do i have to come back to you?

with French Ligue 1, that could happen soon..it really only the Qatari investment that save the yearly drop in France Ligue 1 , but even with Qatari al-Jazeera Sport and France Canal Plus, Ligue TV deal only 200 million euro each year, which is less then AFL

who know what will happen Italy ..but it droping fast there

Scrap the salary cap, expand and reward success

but if the Smurfs was let to spend all there money on players, they would be broke in 10 years time. and there be no Smurf land 🙂

Inequality or mediocrity: Football's dilemma

A-league has move a head fast…faster then any league…. this is the fact, A-league is growing faster in all in all areas (TV deal, attendance, revenue) same with MSL

Financial fair play will just cem.ent teams now at the top…but it save the league in europe, because they was broke

Inequality or mediocrity: Football's dilemma

imagine you’re a player Like the Austrian Captain Marc Janko who was playing with Turkey side Trabzonspor last year, with it ave of 12,000 fans at home game,, Now playing for a Real football club in Sydney FC with double the amount of fans each week watching

or Milos Dimitrijevicm and Nikola Petkovic who was playing with a small team like Red Star Belgrade last year, who wouldn’t want to come to A-league and play

Inequality or mediocrity: Football's dilemma

When the A-league start to have average match attendance equal to France Ligue 1, and Serie A after only 10 years…

then maybe about time we start talking about a Salary cap for Europe leagues 🙂

Scrap the salary cap, expand and reward success

Germany had a type of Financial Fair Play rule in pace for some time..where teams can’t spend more then teams revenue (and other rules) i also believe was the start of Bundesliga raise

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Financial_Fair_Play_Regulations

Inequality or mediocrity: Football's dilemma

the mean is important , because leagues with one team far higher the the mean , see attendance drop, money drop ..this has happen across Europe, where weekly football attendance is doping , UEFA champ league create a temporary solution to this problem, with a league where a team that dominate’s domestic league can play, but after 10 years we are now at a point where most teams in Group stage have no chance to win . but also, those teams go back to their domestic league to a even greater wider gap….UEFA has come up with a solution to this problem, with UEFA Financial Fair Play rule, (salary cap)

Inequality or mediocrity: Football's dilemma
