Jeff predicted a 5-0 win to Australia, go through his comment history. You seem to have a difficult relationship with reality. First you imagined that I was offended and then you imagine that Jeff didn’t predict a 5-0 whitewash

Where did I say I was was offended? That’s just your imagination, I wasn’t offended in any way, everyone has a right to express their opinion and I have the right of reply to it.

I think you should learn what sarcasm is

No, it’s your tone of your posts, not questioning of declaration. You are like a stereotype of a highly parochial, boorish Aussie sports fan who in every possible scenario just chest beats ‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie’ and interprets the situation 100% in Aussie favour. Almost as if the Australian cricket team is paying you to be their cheerleader online. Honestly, you are just really boring with this stuff.

I see you just predicted a 5-0 whitewash for Australia and now you are accusing English team of arrogance? Probably best to look a bit closer to home on that.

He practically gave away the series with that declaration. Time for the Aussies to start planning a victory parade. Or how about we see how the test plays out before accusing anyone of arrogance.

Certainly declaration was a bit mental. It is almost as if Stokes wanted to prove a point to quite a few of those Australians who were saying that Bazball is nothing new and just a repeat of how Ricky Pointing’s Aussie side played cricket. Well, he certainly showed them.
Still, can never judge how a pitch plays until we see both sides playing on it. And 393 is not a small total. For the English Bairstow and Root showed that they are the two English world class batsmen that Australia will need to get a handle on if they are to win the series. Some fantastic batting from those two. For the Aussies Lyon bowled brilliantly and interesting to see Boland being taken to the cleaners this innings. Bet he has never seen anything quite like this before in 5 day cricket.
All in all a fantastic day of cricket. Looking forward to tomorrow very much!

Pre-series banter is all good, but this forum is just Aussie fans, how many English fans are there even to banter with?
Ashes Scout: Smith injury scare, England cut key bowler in final XI, Brook taunts Aussie attack
Looking at this forum and a few others, majority of Aussies are predicting 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0 wins for Oz. To a neutral observer this seems a bit bizarre to be honest, for reasons I outlined in another post. England have some excellent players, they are confident and are at home. Player for player they are weaker than Oz, but not that much.
Flem’s Verdict: Openers under pressure but Aussies look too strong all-round for Ashes mission to conquer Bazball
Even when Australia was the best team in the world by a country mile and England was terrible, they never had a result like 4-0 in England. Why would it happen now with England team playing well? Strange hubris. This has a tight series like in 2019 written all over it. England has plenty of world class players of their own.

His confidence in Warner and Khawaja in my opinion is misplaced. I see their struggles continue. For England, it is amazing that they are persisting with Crawley who has a poor test record, but Duckett is playing very well. Still I definitelly would not be favouring Australians this particular match up and I see Anderson, Broad and Robinson (a really underrated weapon) to give them all sorts of trouble.

I have seen a lot of these sweep the series predictions and I find them bizarre. In my lifetime Australia has never managed to sweep the series in England, even when Australian team was by far the best in the world and the England team was terrible. Why would it happen now against an England team confident and in great form?

I don’t think it was that right call to declare on a pitch like this (although weather forecast may have had something to do with the decision). But Jeff is talking about giving the test away, Aussies punishing England. A bit early for that
